Description
The UNSC is known for its outstanding arsenal of weapons and among the most iconic is the MA5 series. Being in service for more than half a century, the MA5 series is part of the much larger MA Series of rifles, manufactured by Misriah Armory. It is considered the oldest of the weapon platforms still used by the varying branches of the armed forces from Earth. The MA5 is an air-cooled, gas-operated, bullpup assault rifle, composed of Titanium alloy, designed with an LED ammo counter on the top of the weapon, as well as a compass and other functions considered "housekeeping". The weapon is full automatic, capable of firing from 500-900 rounds per minute, depending on the variant. The ammo count can go from 30-60 rounds as well, also depending on the variant. The weapon fires a 7.62×51mm NATO, which comes in a variety of different flavors, from the full metal jacket-armor piercing, shredder, armor-piercing tracer, hollow point, armor-piercing high-explosive and even high explosive dual-purpose ammunitions. Several models of the rifle are known throughout the Halo universe, such as the MA37, MA5B, MA5C, MA5D and even the MA5K. It also makes an appearance in Rooster Teeth's hit show "Red Vs. Blue", wielded by several protagonists, as well as antagonists.
