Description 80. Words

If Neshae hadn’t stopped, if he hadn’t seen something shiny at his feet and gotten on the ground to investigate, he would have been dead.

He heard the crossbow bolt hit the tree where he had just been standing and looked to the right where it had come from.  The man holding the crossbow had red hair tied back in a pony tail.  It was someone Neshae recognized.

“You again?!” Neshae asked.  Kirc Van Helsing was the older of the two Van Helsing brothers Neshae had crossed paths with when he was sixteen.  Both had been raised to be vampire hunters.  Only one really wanted to be one.  Rick Van Helsing had chosen to give up the deal altogether after meeting Neshae and discovering that not all vampires are evil.  Kirc, however, still kept going.  And he had not been very happy when his brother helped the vampire escape years ago.

Neshae’s words were answered with another crossbow bolt flying at him.  He ducked and the bolt hit the tree next to where the other had hit.  Neshae took off through the trees.  He could hear Kirc’s footsteps behind him and the occasional “twang” and “snap” as he shot a bolt and it hit a tree.

Eventually, however, Neshae found himself at a dead end.  Kirc advanced on him, crossbow aimed at his heart.

“Finally, I have you, vampire.” Kirc said.  “It has been many years since we last met, but I finally caught you.  You—“

“Oh POLOKUS, not the MONOLOUE!!!” Neshae put his head in his hands in exasperation.  “I know, I know!  I won’t get away this time cause fate led us to this moment and your brother isn’t here to save me this time and you are the greatest vampire hunter that ever existed and my vampire tricks can’t fool you like they did him.  And I suppose I have absolutely no chance of fighting a vampire hunter of your skill.  And you probably wanna get into a story about how the last vampire you killed died and how he begged for his life and you expect me to beg for my life too.  Well you’ll be disappointed there, but just PLEASE SPARE ME THE MOMOLOGUE!”

In surprise and confusion, Kirc’s eyes went to the ground and he lowered the crossbow.  “Um…I…uh…wasn’t going to say—“

Neshae took the opportunity to shoot his hands out to Kirc and knock the crossbow out of his hands.  And the two found themselves wrestling.  One in self defence, the other for what he thought was justice.

Before long, Neshae used his hypnotism that vampires are well known for when putting their victims to sleep.  Kirc fell limp on the ground and didn’t move except for breathing.  Neshae took a deep breath and threw the crossbow off into the distance.

Dumbass…He thought and left.
