They do look similar but the same they are not. While the things in the game were plants with thorns, these are bones. Somewhat like a spine with ribs meant to catch victims.

No, like, for real. I know they're plants in Rayman 2, but I could have sworn they were bone things in Rayman Arena for the Gamecube. I'll have to double check next time I play.

Were they bones in the game cube version? I don't have that one so I don't know. XD In the PC and Xbox version I'm pretty sure they were still plants.
