Description
Chapter 2Neshae crept through the night, hunting for prey. A soft breeze blew past him, stirring up the sweet scent of the night air. Everything was calm and peaceful. Even Neshae, a chaos fan as he was, enjoyed it. The moonlight sent cool rays to the earth, unlike the harsh, burning, blinding rays of the sun. Night was his time. He was a vampire.
Neshae was limbless, like his twin brother, Rayman. Though the two were twins, they didn’t look that much alike. They had similar features, but where Rayman’s hair was blonde, Neshae’s was black. His eyes were green like the leaves on the trees. He wore a black shirt with a red bull’s eye on his chest under a pair of large bat wings that were folded over his body like a cape. It was more or less a spoof of the whole Dracula wearing a cape thing and it had become Neshae’s style. On his feet were green shoes with splotches of gray, an almost camouflage style and on his hands were black biking gloves. Around his waist was a thick, brown, leather belt that tied the silver handle of a Fire Blade to him.
Neshae’s keen dark sight saw something move in the shadows. He activated his vamprie camouflage to blend into his surroundings and sneak up on the victim. He crept quietly so to not startle the creature and cause it to run off and loose him.
Yet the creature continued to move. For some reason, Neshae could never get a good view of it. He could tell, however, that it walked on four legs. It kept moving, which didn’t allow Neshae to spring out of the shadows as easily as he was wanting to. Eh, what did it matter? He was in no hurry. He would follow it until it stopped and then attack.
A bright light suddenly appeared. The creature Neshae had been following looked up in surprise and darted away into the darkness. Neshae held his hands in front of his eyes until they adjusted to the change of light.
A portal had opened up. Neshae’s common sense told him he should avoid it. Anything could be on the other side. Possibly something, big, hungry, and invincible.
But there was only one way to find out. His curiosity defeating his common sense, Neshae approached the portal.
Just before Neshae entered, something else came through on the other side of the light. It looked like a human. The human carried a staff with him. Others came through the portal with him.
Neshae once again hid in the shadows. If he could catch one of them alone, then he could bite them instead. Humans had better tasting blood anyway.
The first human looked around. With the heads of the others turned, Neshae might be able to get that one and disappear before the others knew anything. But he had to be in the right spot.
He darted from one shadow to another. The human looked sharply in his direction. Had he seen him? Neshae waited a moment, then darted to another shadow closer to the human.
Now the human was looking directly at Neshae. He could see him. No point in hiding now. Neshae’s fangs came out in case the human and his friends decided to attack.
“Great.” The human muttered.
