Chapter 5

Dreyfus gazed at the vampire laying on the ground.  Neshae had woken up and was battling Shadow Santa.  He could tell by the occasional twitching of the body.  Now he had to help Rayman and the others.

There was a mechanical noise behind him and he spun around.  One of the toy soldiers had stayed behind to find him.  Fortunately, with Shadow Santa unconscious, the protection spell would have faded by now.  Dreyfus shot a blast of ice at the robot.

The soldier held up a flame thrower and shot fire at the ice blast, causing it to evaporate into nothing.

The soldier tried to grab Dreyfus and he dodged and ran through the cluster of machines.  The robot chased after him, gaining speed.

Dreyfus turned a corner and hid between two machines.  The robot turned and slowed, searching different places for the werefoxdeer.  Dreyfus summoned his ice sword, ready for the battle.

Just as the robot was creeping past Dreyfus’s hiding place, he slashed at it and sliced off the flame thrower.

The robot jumped back in surprise and the flame thrower hit the floor with a clang.  Dreyfus came out of the hiding place and shot a blast of ice at the robot, incasing it in a frozen block.

Dreyfus made an attempt to go past the robot and find the others when a robotic arm suddenly burst out of the ice and grabbed one of his antlers.  Dreyfus cried out in surprise, but managed to get his antler free.

The ice must have been thinner there.  He thought as he watched the arm squirm, trying to grab onto something.

When Dreyfus got back to Shadow Santa, he had to hide behind the sleigh to avoid being seen.  Razorbeard, accompanied by two robo pirates, stood over the vampire.

“Take him for interrogation.” Razorbeard said.  “He will tell us where the others are eventually.”

The robo pirates picked the vampire up and carried him out of the room.  Dreyfus wanted to follow them and rescue Neshae, but the others were in more immediate danger.  He had to help them first so they could help him.  When the pirates left the area, he followed the direction the toy soldiers had taken his friends.
