Description
Chapter 1

The sun was high in the sky, which was blue with the occasional cloud.  A warm summer breeze gently flew through the air and made the leave on the trees rustle.  The leaves that were as green as the eyes of the vampire sitting underneath them.

Neshae leaned up against a tree.  His eyes were closed.  He hated bright days like this.  But this day was better than the other bright days.  He was alive.

Just a few days ago he had been nearly eaten alive by a huge beast, stabbed (that one was so close he had actually SEEN heaven before narrowly being saved by his friends), nearly blown up,  and a lot more.  And even better, his best friend was alive as well.  And that kid had been through a lot too.

Dreyfus tried continually to access the power of the teleportation beads Neshae had grabbed right before he had flown for his life from the raging beast and the self destructing of the building that had been creating evil clones to replace everyone in the universes.  Neshae had figured out how to use the beads already, though after each time, he never could quite remember how he had done it.  He just did it.

“Try thinking about it.” Neshae suggested.  “It works when you try to change forms.”

The werefoxdeer paused for a moment.  Then he looked at the bead again and closed his eyes, concentrating.  He instantly vanished and appeared in the tree right above Neshae.

“It worked!” he cried.

“Nice work, kid.” Neshae said.  Then, in a joking tone, he added, “All thanks to my wonderful thinking abilities.”

Dreyfus jumped off the branch and landed next to the vampire.  In the same, joking tone, he said, “I could have figured it out sooner or later.”

“Oh yeah?” Neshae reached for Dreyfus and began tickling him.

Dreyfus cried out in surprise and began laughing.  Then he suddenly transformed, becoming a Grolnashier.  In surprise, Neshae stopped tickling and looked up at Dreyfus’s new form.  He hadn’t seen the werefoxdeer turn into anything like that yet.

While Neshae stood there in surprise, Dreyfus pinned him to the ground with a large paw.  Then he smiled and transformed back into his human form with antlers and two fox tails.  Then he started tickling Neshae back.

Laughing, Neshae tried to hold Dreyfus off, but Dreyfus used his feathery soft tails, which tickled even more than his hands.  Neshae tried to flap his wings and escape.

“Oh no you don’t!” Dreyfus held Neshae down and tickled him furiously.  There was only one thing the vampire could do.  He started tickling Dreyfus again.

So the two continued their tickle fight for another minute or so until a vibration rumbled through the ground.  Distracted, they stopped and Dreyfus let Neshae up.  They looked curiously out into the distance, wondering what had caused the vibration.

“I’m getting a bad feeling about this.” Dreyfus said.

“Me too.” Neshae said.

From the trees a figure emerged.  It looked similar to Dreyfus in Grolnashier form, but more horrible.  And bigger.  It was a figure that the two knew well.  It was the beast.

“Thought I’d find you here.” It said.

Neshae leaned up against a tree.  His eyes were closed.  He hated bright days like this.  But this day was better than the other bright days.  He was alive.

Just a few days ago he had been nearly eaten alive by a huge beast, stabbed (that one was so close he had actually SEEN heaven before narrowly being saved by his friends), nearly blown up,  and a lot more.  And even better, his best friend was alive as well.  And that kid had been through a lot too.

“Me too.” Neshae said.

From the trees a figure emerged.  It looked similar to Dreyfus in Grolnashier form, but more horrible.  And bigger.  It was a figure that the two knew well.  It was the beast.

“Thought I’d find you here.” It said.
