Chapter 17

I was thrown into a cell somewhere in the caves.  Normally I'd be able to break the bars, but there were horizontal bars as will bolted to the vertical ones.  I'd have to try to squeeze through them later.

A plate of food was slid into the cell before the door was closed.  "Eat up." the leader said and walked off.

In any other situation, I wouldn't touch the food.  I knew why they were feeding me so much.  But at that moment I didn't care.  It had been a very long time since I'd eaten anything and I was starving.  They had even tossed in a glass of blood.

When I was done eating I took a shot at breaking the bars or bending them so I could squeeze out easier.  They wouldn't break, unfortunately, and the horizontal parts kept the vertical ones from bending very far.  I hoped it would be far enough.

First piece to shove out was my torso.  My wings were a little hard to get through, but the rest slid right out.  The rest of me was no problem.  Getting all my pieces back in place, I quietly ran out of the cave.

I had no problem getting past other swamp sirens.  Every time I came across some I just camouflaged.  Not all of them dressed like the group that had caught me.  They seemed to dress for the kind of music they sang.  I saw some of all kinds.

Eventually I ended up right back where that tunnel under the water was.  There really didn't seem to be any other way out of here.  I wondered how fast I could swim up if I used my wings.

I don't know how long I was down there.  It's kind of impossible to tell time in caves.  But I started getting hungry again.

Alright. I thought.  I'm gonna go for it.  Here goes nothing.

But just before I dove into the water tunnel, one of those blue arms wrapped around me again.

"Where do you think you're going?" asked a familiar voice as the arm pulled me away from the water.

As I came face to face with the "leader" once again, anger flooded through me.  I punched the swamp siren in the face, causing him to cry out and let me go.  I heard voices of other swamp sirens coming, answering the cry they'd heard, and I started running back to the tunnel.

"Get him!" The leader shouted as I hit the water.

I didn't make it very far before the others caught up with me and dragged me back.  I tried to fight them, but it was like trying to fight water.  They brought me back to that stupid little cell and this time they posted a guard as well.

"You're not gonna get away this time." the leader said as he shoved another plate of food in with me.

I was hungry again so I did eat a little, but most of the food was left on the plate.  I began planning my next escape.

I tried waiting for my guard to fall asleep, then escaping the same way I had last time, but the guards changed regularly.

I knew knocking one out wouldn't do any good.  I tried knocking out the guard who kept bugging me to eat more.  Didn't work.

Eventually, all the blues swamp sirens returned to the cell and got me out.  "Present time." the leader said as he wrapped another tentacle-like water arm around me.

"Let go of me you tone deaf puddles!" I said and struggled to get away.  They ignored me and took me to a huge room that I had missed before when trying to escape.  A huge throne made of blue tiles stood at one wall.  More blue tiles formed lines connecting the throne to many green tile circles which formed a semi-circle around the throne.  Many groups of swamp sirens of different kinds of music stood around these circles, their "presents" standing within the circle.  This group took a spot at the very end of the semi-circle to the left of the throne.  Now everyone was there except for the queen.

When she arrived, I could see why the sirens went to so much trouble for her approval.  She was HOT.  And she didn't have any trouble with her "presents" either.  With her own song she was able to lure each captured person to her.  She started with the right side of the semi-circle, which was good.  I started trying to find a way to escape again.

Unfortunately by the time it was my turn I still hadn't gotten anywhere.  She began to sing and like a fly to a bug zapper I was drawn to her.  Part of me told myself to resist or I'd be killed, but I found I didn't care anymore.  Her song was so soothing, so calming...

I was awoken from my trance when the queen's eyes left mine and looked past the middle of the semi-circle.  "How'd they get in here?" She asked.

Everyone followed her gaze.  Many figures dressed in white robes and strange masks stood behind the group.

"You are all under arrest for breaking code 431." the biggest one said and pulled out a whip.  Without anymore warning than that he started whipping everyone in the room.

Swamp sirens panicked and started running around trying to escape.  I thought I was saved for a minute until one of them tripped and landed on me, knocking my head into a rock and knocking me out.

The next thing I remember I was extremely sore, tied, gagged, and on a huge plate being carried by pawns towards a giant hungry looking plant.
