Description
Chapter 13Rayman and Alaesia hiked for about an hour before they found a steep hill. At the top of the hill they could see a well that was surrounded by a dark rain cloud. Rain fell from the cloud, but instead of leaving greener grass where the rain was falling, there was no sign of life. Acid rain.
“This looks like the place.” Rayman said. “But how are we going to get to the well?”
“We need some sort of shelter.” Alaesia looked around. She spotted a plant with leaves large enough to be umbrellas. “How about this?” She picked off a leaf and handed it to Rayman.
Rayman looked at the leaf. “I think we’re gonna need more than that, Alaesia.”
“No, really?” Alaesia asked sarcastically as she picked more leaves. “I thought that was just water.” She took off the back pack and looked inside. She pulled out a small, glass vial. “Well this will work.”
Rayman took the leaves and the vial. “You wait here.” He said. Then, putting the leaves over his head, he began climbing the hill.
It took a few minutes because it was difficult to climb it while holding leaves above you, but Rayman reached the top of the hill. A bucket hung over the well and a lever was at its side to send the bucket down and pull it back up.
Rayman pushed the lever and the bucket fell into the water. He pulled the lever and reeled the bucket back up to the top of the well. Nothing was in it. It had just been floating on the surface in the water.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me.” Rayman said under his breath. Setting the vial on the ground, he picked up a rock and put it in the bucket, then pushed the lever again. The bucket fell into the water and made an even bigger splash. He pulled the lever once again and when the bucket came up this time it was full of water.
Rayman dipped the vial into the water, filling it with the aqua colored liquid. He got the water from the Well of Healing. Another ingredient checked off the list.
A drop of rain landed on the vial, making it sizzle. The leaves were dissolving. Rayman hurried back down the hill and away from the acid rain just as the leaves dissolved entirely.
“Nice job.” Alaeisa said. Rayman put the vial in her back pack. “Now it’s time to find the Frost Lake and the Ice Serpent.”
