Description Chapter 15

Rayman wondered how much time they had left to save Neshae as they approached the castle.  The sun was leaning slightly towards setting now.  It had already been a day since the vampire had been turned to stone.

The castle floated a hundred feet off the ground.  It seemed to be made of sapphire and ice and there were no visible doors or windows.

“Well we found the obvious wizard hangout.” Rayman said.  “Now how do we get in?”

“I’m not sure.” Alaesia said.  “I doubt they’ll just let us in and get the hammer.”  After a moment, she said, “I could lift us up.  I might be able to open a hole in the wall, but the wizards are bound to have some kind of protection around it against that.”

“It’s worth a try.” Rayman said.

Alaesia knelt down and the ground beneath their feet rose into the air, taking them with it.  In moments, they were up next to the castle.  Alaesia put both hands on the wall and a hole opened up, creating a doorway for them to go through.

"Hey it worked!" Rayman said.  They both stepped into the castle.  "You'd think they'd have a sheild around this place to protect it from intruders."

"I don't think they're trying to keep us out." Alaesia said.  "This place is full of strong magic.  If they wanted to keep us out, they could have."

At the end of a long hallway, they found themselves in a room.  Men and women stood in a cricle in the room.  None seemed to notice that the two had walked in.  Their hands were almost joined, held up above their heads and a green orb sparkled in the center of their circle.  Even though the orb was green, it cast a fiery orange light upon the sorcerers.

Alaesia tapped on Rayman's back.  When he looked at her, she nodded her head in the direction of another hallway.  He figured she must have left her body and found the hammer down that hall.  She just wasn't going to say so and let the sorcerers know they were there.

They reached the end of the hallway and found the Hammer of Thor floating in midair.  Green emeralds lined the handle, which supported the mighty hammer head.  It was a beautiful weapon.

"This seems to easy." Rayman said quietly.

"Exactly." Said a voice behind them.

Before the two could even turn around, a green light washed over them and they were suddenly suspended above the ground.

"Normally, we feed intruders to our sacrificial beasts.  But since you happened to break in uninvited to steal from us just in time, we'll sacrifice you to our spell instead." a wizard said.

"Our friend's in trouble.  We just need an emerald from the hammer to do a spell to save him and we didn't want to interrupt your spell.  You looked deeply into it and interrupting might be dangerous." Alaesia said.

"We knew you were there the whole time." the wizard said.  "You won't be able to talk yourselves out of this one.  We know all the tricks you thieves can pull."

"But we've already told you what we want." Rayman said.  "We need an emerald so we can save my brother."

"You'll join him soon enough if he does die, then.  Because you will be sacrificed."

There was a sudden extreme pain, like white fire flowing through Rayman's veins.  A cry to his right told him that Alaesia was going through the same experience.

When the cry stopped so did the pain.  At first, Rayman thought that they had both died.  But then he opened his eyes just before he hit the floor.  THe sorcerers took a step back, wide eyed in shock.  Alaesia got back to her feet before Rayman did, eyes filled with fury.  She reached forward and an invisible force, Alaesia's soul powers, pushed back the wizards.

"Grab the hammer, let's go!" Alaesia said as she held back the surprised wizards.

Rayman grabbed the hammer and Alaesia opened a hole in the wall with another hand.  Then she pushed Rayman through the hole and jumped out behind him.  As they fell, Alaesia then brought back up the pillar of earth to catch them and break their fall.

"Run." she said when they landed.  "THose sorcerers are gonna chase us."

The two ran off into the trees.  The voices of the wizards eventually faded.  But their task was not yet completel.  They still had the next item on their list to get: the fire from the volcano.
