Description Chapter 9

The sun was setting through the trees as Alaesia and Rayman made it to a village.  This one was not like the human village Neshae lived in.  The houses here were different, with a wider variety of color than the white rocks and red roofs.  And they were not in the straight lines and blocks either.  Smoke rose from chimneys and heavenly smells filled the air.

The people were humanoid in appearance and were covered with fur of all different colors.  Tentacle-like tails acted as a third hand when doing their work.

A few of the creatures stopped and watched as they approached.  Their eyes were completely black.

“Does anyone here know a cure for—“ Rayman started, but he never got to finish.

Rocks suddenly went flying through the air from the forest.  A few people were hit, but none were hurt too bad.  Before the dust caused by the rocks settled, Rayman and Alaesia saw more of the yaomai attacking the people.  When the dust cleared, three yaomai earth sorcerers dropped to the ground and chanted something in some unfamiliar language.  The ground vibrated, causing most people to fall to the ground.

One yaomai picked up a creature that had fallen.  It struggled to get away, but the yaomai was stronger.  Rayman ran at them while charging his fist and sent the fist into the face of the yaomai.

It cried out and the creature fell to the ground and ran off.  The yaomai then attacked Rayman.

Alaesia shot fire at the yaomai earth sorcerers, catching them by surprise before they could do anymore earth magic.  They quickly summoned up piles of dirt around themselves to put out the flames.

As they were coming out of the dirt piles they had buried themselves in, Alaesia sent more fire at them.  The sorcerers saw it coming this time and threw up shields of dirt to protect themselves.

Alaesia dropped to the ground like they had and went deeper than the dirt.  She summoned up stone to encase the creatures.  Then using her soul powers, which was very hard to do since the rock was heavy, she lifted them.

By the time Alaesia had gotten the sorcerers high enough into the air, they had freed themselves.  What they hadn’t realized until then, though, was that it wouldn’t help them much.  Alaesia could carry them much easier and threw them off into the distance.

The rest of the yaomai were easy to fight off.  After a while they retreated into the forest.  The furry inhabitants of the village cheered.

One approached Rayman and Alaesia.  It’s fur was bright orange with blue spots.  Brown stripes traced its spine from its head to the end of its tail.  “Thank you,” It said.  “for helping us.  The yaomai have been terrorizing everyone in the land.  It is good that someone good finally was able to stand up to them.”

“You’re welcome.” Alaesia said.  “We’re kind of in a hurry.  We need to find a cure for our friend.  He has been turned to stone and we need to get the cure before it kills him.  We were told we could find one here.”

The creature looked up at her, then back at the others, then back at her.  “The people of this village know of no such cure.  But we do know someone who can help you.”

“Who?” Rayman asked.

“His name is unknown to us, but the rushe call him Osawen.  He lives outside the village.” The creature, or rushe, pointed off to the right.  “He is a powerful sorcerer,  probably one of the most powerful.  If anyone will know what to do he will.”

“Thanks.” Rayman said.  And started off in the indicated direction.

“Good luck.” The rushe said.

Alaesia smiled.  “Same to you.” Then followed Rayman.  They had no time to stay and chat with the rushe.  They had no idea how much time they had left to save Neshae and they weren’t going to waste any of it.
