Sorry to double post, but I should say a bit about summoning. You're right, he doesn't know what the person is doing at the time, that's why he warns his summon targets when he teaches himself the spell for summoning. Mainly he gets lucky to pull out his friends at the right times.
Summoning is a key role in the story though. What I hope is that it'll come into STU to find characters like Leonardo, Pasci and Contact.
