Description Chapter 2

“What is this?”

The three Raymanians were in a cave.  They had been exploring uncharted areas by their village.  The cave had been a deep one and they had just stumbled upon something that was not of natural formation.

It was stuck in a hole in the wall.  There were runes carved above it that neither of the boys could read.

One, the one who had spoken, stepped forward and placed a hand on the handle.   It was somewhat hourglass shaped, but more with edges than curves down the length.  It was silvery gray in color and had a hole on one end.

“Sense anything, Thorn?” asked a second.

The boy shook his head.  His hair was black and had a style similar to Rayman’s.  His light eyes were almost a hazel color and the symbol on his blue shirt was a pentacle.  He knew some magic, but so far all he could do was sense where it was.  He took his hand off the mysterious object.

The third boy took it out of the hole.  His hair was blonde and too short to be in much of any style.  He tossed the object in the air and caught it again.  “It must be safe to take then.”

“Put it back.” Thorn said.  “Someone didn’t put it there and carve into the rock for nothing…”

“What are you worried about?” The third boy asked.  “Catch, Hesaoh.”  He threw it to a Raymanian with brown hair that stuck out.  His eyes were green like leaves on the trees outside.  On his indigo colored shirt was a symbol of two dots connected by a line in the middle.  Around his waist, like the other boys, was a kilt.

Hesaoh caught the object.  “Stop playing around.  Thorn’s right.  Besides, what if this thing breaks and the person who owns it comes in and catches us red handed?  I’m not going to be blamed for that.”

“That’s just driving me crazy…” Thorn said, scratching the back of his head.  “Why WOULD someone leave something there like that if it doesn’t have magic?”

“Maybe it’s a key or something…” the third boy suggested.

“Maybe…” Hesaoh said.  “Maybe the door is further down.”

“Yeah.” The third boy agreed.  “Come on, Thorn.” He called as the two continued down the tunnel, holding crystals that gave off a soft glow.

Thorn stopped trying to read the runes and followed them.  A few moments later, a light emerged in the darkness.  It came from a torch and was carried by a dark haired Raymanian wearing a black cloak.  He held a map in his hand.  He stopped and looked at the hole in the wall and the inscription.

He read the inscription, then looked at the map, then at the empty hole in the wall.  Then he noticed the tracks in the light layer of sand near the wall.  Someone had been here and not long ago.  He followed them further down the tunnel, wanting to meet those who had stolen the treasure he sought.
