Description Chapter 4

After a long while, they boys came to a dead end.  Sure enough, there was a door made of some kind of precious stone.  A light came from behind it, shining through and flooding the cavern with an eerie red light.  The only problem was there was no hole to place their key.  They checked the walls.  Nothing.

“Well if it isn’t a key, then what is it?” The third boy asked.

“I’m more interested in what is behind that door.” Thorn said.

Hesaoh didn’t say anything.  He stared at the object in his hands as if that might give him an answer.  Why was there a hole at the end?  Why had it been put in here?  None of this made sense.

“So you are the ones who took my blade.” Said a voice from behind Hesaoh.

He snapped out of his trance and turned around.  A man stood behind him, wielding a knife in one hand and holding a map and a torch in another.

“What are you talking about?” Thorn asked.  “Who are you?”

“My name is not important.  If you hand over the blade, then you can go on your way and never see me again.  But if you don’t, then I will kill you and you will still never see me again.” The man said.

“What blade?” Thorn asked.

“And what about killing?” asked the third boy.  He stepped closer to the man.  “You think you could bring me down?  You wanna take your best shot?”

The man sighed.  He threw the knife at the third boy, hitting him in the chest.

“Kenny!” Hesaoh cried out.

“Oh my God!  He killed Kenny!” Thorn shouted and opened the door.

“You bas—“ Hesaoh was grabbed suddenly by Thorn and pulled into the white light behind the door as the man pulled his knife out of his dead friend.

They ran through the white light and continued on through the cave.  Behind them, they could hear the footsteps of the man chasing after them.

Finally, they made it out of the cave.  But the place they were in was not their home.  The trees were different.  Creatures scurried by with something between their hands, feet, head, and body.  Dark clouds hung in the sky and large drops of water began to fall.  This was not their home.  This was an entire different world.  They had gone through a portal.  And the only way back was past a murderer that wanted something they didn’t have.

They ran through the forest, the storm drenching them.  Thankfully, the rain and brush made it easy for them to loose the man behind them.  But unfortunately, Hesaoh eventually found himself alone.  He had also been separated from Thorn as well.

He didn’t know how far he had run.  But eventually, the clouds cleared to reveal a bright sun.  This area looked untouched by the rain as if the storm either hadn’t reached it yet, or had formed where he had been.  There was a village close by.  People walked around, with the same things between their pieces as the creatures in the forest had.  And their noses were much smaller, barely sticking out from their faces.

He didn’t want to run into those people.  He didn’t want to be found.  He wanted to just run away from it all.  He changed direction and stumbled along, his energy lost.  Finally, next to a small pond, he collapsed.  The last thing that went through his mind before he fell asleep was the image of his friend’s death replaying in his mind.
