Description Chapter 7

When Hesaoh woke up, he was surrounded by limbed birds.  He sprang to his feet.

“Back!” He cried, picking up a rock.  “Get away from me!”

“Vermin!” cried one of the birds.  “You should be taught a lesson!”

Hesaoh threw the rock at the bird who had spoken and ran.  He had not gotten very far before he came to a cliff.  He skidded to a stop and turned around.  The birds had chased him there and now he was trapped.

“Stupid limbed birds!” Hesaoh cried.  “Leave me alone!”

“Take him to the king.” Ordered the first bird.  “He shall pay for insulting us!”

In one final move to defend himself, Hesaoh held out the object that he had taken from the cave.  A blade of flame sprang out of the handle, taking both him and the birds by surprise.

Hesaoh cried out and dropped the sword.  It landed on the ground and the flame was extinguished.

“Grab him!” ordered the bird and the others captured him before he could pick the flame sword back up.

Hesaoh woke up after dreaming the memory.  He was at the bottom of a giant bird cage with two more limbed birds inside with him.  He rolled over.

What had he done?  In the last twenty four hours his friend had been killed, he had been separated from his other friend, he had been captured by these strange, limbed birds, tortured, and now given to two of them as a slave.  And he had lost the fire sword, which might even end up going to the man who had taken his friend’s life.

“I think he’s awake.” Said one of the birds.

Oh no.  He thought.

He felt a gust of air as one of them flew down and landed beside him.  He didn’t move.  Please just think I’m asleep…he prayed.

He felt soft feathers brushing a lock of hair out of his face.  Hesaoh turned around and saw that the white bird had turned so that her wings would give the kind touch.

“You poor creature.” The bird said.  “You look like you’ve been through a lot.”

Hesaoh sighed.  So there WERE hearts in some of these things after all.  He relaxed a little and laid back down.  “I have.”

“Well don’t worry.” The white bird said.  “I won’t treat you the way the king did.  If I could use my magic, I’d heal you right now.”

A spark of hope came to life in Hesaoh.  He turned back around.  “You can do magic?  Can you help me?”

“I can’t do magic in this world.” The white bird said.  “But I can help you in any way I can.”

“I have to get the fire sword back.” Hesaoh said.  “A friend of mine is in danger and I have to save him.  But I have to have that fire sword to do it.”

“Fire sword?” the blue bird said.  “Ann, isn’t this the limbless man in your dream?”
