Description
A commission I did for Shadeomega on FurAffinity where Ms. Sticks demonstrates her ability to squish herself into a tiny jar, taking off her skirt to make it easier, and accidentally getting herself stuck when she ends up slipping further into it than she intended to goRelated content

My favorite panel is the second to last one.Β
How would a jar of Sticks feel like? Mushy like paper mache becauseΒ she was drawn on paper? Of would she feel like the media she was first drawn with (Ink if pen, powdery graphite if pencil).Β

Theoretically it could be whichever you choose to interpret, (death of the author is the birth of the reader) but my idea is that she'd feel like flesh because she's actually an organic entity, drawing her just causes her DNA to alter and recombine. In the universe she exists in, stick people are actually the common ancestor to all the other races. Ancient nomadic stick tribes would paint pictures of themselves on cave walls to focus their natural shapeshifting abilities, the discovery of which was sort of their equivalent to the cavemen discovering fire in our world, that was how sentient life first realized that they could get creative. These ancient nomads realized that if they could redraw themselves to, say, regrow limbs lost to predators while hunting, then they could draw themselves to look like anything, and took creative influence from the plants and animals around them. When they reproduced, they passed these traits on, until they became so radically different from how they started that mutations made them lose shapeshifting ability, causing these traits to continue being passed down for generations, Darwinian evolution starts to take effect, and that's why humans in her world coexist with anthropomorphic animals, plant people, monsters, mythical creatures, and even clowns. Ms. Sticks is the last stick person still alive (Ms. Lines is more of a fan character that I don't consider to be "canon"), having been born to humans, and her existence considered a genetic anomaly, like if a human woman in our world suddenly gave birth to the missing link. Ms. Sticks is an outlier among her ancestors in that she only shapeshifts when other people draw her, it doesn't work when she draws herself, and to this day she's completely unaware that that's not how it's supposed to work. She spent much of her childhood being mocked for looking so strange, (ironically by people who would look very strange in our world) that she spent much of her childhood and teenage years trying desperately to learn how to draw realistic human anatomy so that on the off chance that she can finally make it work, she can turn herself into a human and finally stop being weird. After graduating high school, still uncertain what career path she wanted to follow, having spent the majority of her time fixating on her art-based abilities, she had the epiphany that her condition wasn't a debilitating curse, but rather a blessing. She became an Elementary School art teacher so she can use her stick body to make a point and spread a healthy positive perspective about art. Insecure children who hated art class learned to love it when their teacher said they'd be drawing her, because even if they don't draw her head as a perfect circle, and her limbs aren't in perfect proportion to each other, when they look back up at their reference, surprise! They actually drew her perfectly! Once they got comfortable with that, then she would give them assignments like "draw teacher with a different haircut," "draw teacher with animal traits," "draw teacher in a funny costume," giving young budding artists a confidence boost when they're at an age where they really need it the most, which turned out to be the exact thing she always needed to receive her own confidence boost. She loved her job only up until the point where she got transferred to the high school, where it took barely any time at all for a much older kid to realize that if they can draw teacher in funny costumes and animal features, they could draw her with boobs, and then everything snowballed from there

To be fair, she set herself up for that. That's on her.
