Description Lark stood frigid in the cool February weather, pressing his scarf tighter against his face. After being assigned to a partner, the spirit had, with much grumbling at the socialization he was being forced into, arranged a meeting place in one of the school’s many courtyards. The air around him stood still yet chilly, piercing the places on Lark’s body where fabric ran thin and slipping into any openings in his garments, such as sleeves and collars, searching for warmth where there was none, slowly enveloping his skin in a futile attempt to steal away his bodily heat, though he produced none. The warmth that did escape him came from his irritated breaths and revealed itself in short puffs of vapor as it touched the coolness of the outside. Uneasy in this freezing weather, Lark fidgeted, first crossing his arms and then shoving his hands into his pockets.

He had only been standing for about five minutes, but it seemed far longer to the agitated Lark. Bored and uninterested in his surroundings, he fingered the gem in his pocket. He had not been practicing using his element since he had first discovered it for fear that he might be blasted once more. That and his distaste for magic and the dark arts led him to stray from his assignments and place his priority in other things such as watching over his sister or sleeping. How nice a bed would be around now. Shaking his head to clear any drowsiness that had begun to set in, he decided to focus on practicing his rusty skills a bit before his partner arrived.

Concentrating, he tried to make the air around him stir. It wavered a bit but nothing terribly significant occurred. Still determined, he tried again, placing all his attention on creating a gust of wind. Knowing his goal and element he was trying to control made the magic far easier than it had been before and after a couple attempts he had a steady airflow going. This boosted his confidence a tad and he increased the force of the wind, whirling it a bit around him.
His scarf began to flail in the gust and one of the ends abruptly flew up to meet his face with a smack and the winds stopped immediately, Lark having lost his concentration. Sighing in a disappointed fashion, Lark released the stone from his fist and reached up to readjust his scarf. He hoped his partner would arrive presently.

//Two little yellow orbs made their way to the field Lark was standing in, bobbing and waving around as if guiding someone just as Alex finally appeared, looking mildly annoyed as he approached. The two orbs floated to Lark, circled around him once before heading back towards Alex. The blond sighed and continued walking until he reached about three feet away from the other teen. "...So your who I was partnered up with right?" He asked in a dull tone, hopefully the guy wouldn't read to much into it. Alex had a dull tone for pretty much anything unless it was raining and he could make a lightning storm.
~~~~~~~~~~
Two crackling yellow orbs suddenly alarmed Lark, and he jumped a bit in place, his eyes darting towards the source. A blonde haired kid was walking towards him, presumably the owner of the glowing balls. Lark regarded them warily, silently scolding himself for failing to be alert and aware of his surroundings.  The spirit turned his body towards his partner and peered up at him. He was considerably taller than Lark and was looking at Lark rather apathetically. A shock of bright blonde hair sprung from his head and fell slightly in front of his blues eyes, colors that were rather bright considering his dull attitude.
~~~~~~~~~~
"...So you’re who I was partnered up with, right?" His tone was offhanded and uninterested. Lark could empathize with the boy’s tone, but he sensed that the apathetic aura was one that hung around the fair haired Sylfa often.

“Yeah, I guess,” Lark shrugged, shifting his weight to one foot as he answered in a soft spoken and barely audible tone. He grimaced a bit, partially because of the cold and partially because of his unwillingness to interact with others. Recognizing the noticeable difference in height, Lark levitated a few inches off the ground the two were more level with each other and then stuck  out his hand. “I’m Lark. And you’re…” He shifted his sleeve down and peered at a clumsily scrawled note on his arm in which he had written his partner’s basic information. “…Alexander, I presume?”
~~~~~~~~~~
//"Mn yeah." Alex answered glancing at the scribbles on Larks arm, ignoring the little orbs as they buried into his hair like always. "I don't shake hands...unless you want to be a static magnet all day." Alex added his tone a bit apologetic as a small smile tugged on his lips. It had been happening a lot these days...blowing up the class was a good example of it. Some students were still complaining about it...
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Oh,” Lark said lamely, dropping his hand a bit awkwardly. The explanation for the refusal however, satisfied him and the smile that played on Alex’s lips made the air around the pair a little lighter. Lark let his feet touch the ground again, no longer needing to be level with Alex, and tousled his hair.

Lark watched as the orbs buried themselves in his partner’s… hair? Based on what he had seen and heard so far, Alexander’s affinitive element seemed to deal woth electricity. Electricity and wind… they could work well together if manipulated in the right ways.

“So, how do you want to do this? Combining wind and lightening can be a bit tricky and dangerous, so we might want to move somewhere… away from the academy?” Lark mumbled a bit, not meeting the taller figure’s eyes. His social awkwardness caused his words to fumble in his mouth, but at least he could talk properly.
~~~~~~~~~~
//Alex frowned a bit in thought. Yeah moving away from the school would be a good idea. "...Sure as long as it isn't a forest I don't want to be responsible for a forest fire." Alex said after a minute, messed up his hair and pointed to the orbs that fell out. "They'll show us a safer place." He said while the orbs dimmed out then shined brighter. That was code for yes. "Unless you have a place in mind?" Alex asked looking at Lark.
~~~~~~~~~~
Lark actually would have welcomed fire at that point in time, for he was now slightly shivering in the cold. He recognized that he was far more sensitive to cooler weather but really, this was too much. Still, he was also aware that no matter how desperate he was for warmth, starting a forest fire would not be a good idea. Besides, two other students had already destroyed half of it, or so he had heard.

He watched as Alex ran a hand through his slightly unkempt hair to shake out the orbs. That was still kind of strange to him, but Lark supposed he would have to get used to it. Were they alive, or were they some sort of magic that Alex controlled? Either way, they were an interesting phenomenon and drew Lark’s attention.

“…Unless you have a place in mind?” Alexander’s question directed at Lark brought him out of his fascination of the two yellow companions.

“Er, no, I don’t have anywhere particular I’d like to go. We can just follow the yellow orb… things.” Lark’s answer was a bit flustered for it was twice today that he had been caught off guard after becoming lost in his own thoughts. Not counting hitting himself with his scarf. Damn, he really needed to get his composure back. Maybe the cold really was getting to him.
~~~~~~~~~~
//Alex looked at Lark then sighed and motioned for the orbs to go, and they did. "They’re sprites." He announced just in case the other teen was questioning what they were and then turned his attention to Lark. "Your element is wind...have you tried altering it so it won't blow against you?" he asked, it would help with the cold and he wouldn't have to ponder if Lark would freeze to death.
~~~~~~~~~~~
As if reading Lark’s mind, Alex informed him that the little balls were sprites. Intrigued, the child like boy’s gaze followed them as they floated along, leading the pair to a location more suitable for their assignment. “Is that so? They’ll be leading us to somewhere safer then? Perhaps a clearing or some sort of field might work well.” Lark, suggested, sounding a bit timid in his soft spoken voice. Meanwhile, he contemplated what he and Alex were going to do when they arrived at their destination. He knew he could make a tornado with wind, so perhaps they could incorporate lightning in somehow and create a sort of natural disaster? That would be extremely destructive however, so  it might not have been the best idea.

“Your element is wind… have you tried altering it so it won’t blow against you?” Lark flushed a bit at the taller boy’s statement. So he had noticed Lark’s distaste for the coolness that always seemed to linger around the school.

“N-no, I haven’t. I’ll try that now.” Maneuvering the air around him as he walked, Lark willed the sharp bite of the wind to dissipate and instead searched to make a warmer gust blow on his face and hands. The change wasn't terribly significant, but it certainly helped make the spirit more comfortable outside. The suggestion had been a good one and Lark expressed his thanks by nodding and shooting a fleeting half smile at Alex.

A minuscule drop suddenly hit Lark’s face causing him to turn his head upward towards they grey sky which grew darker with clouds that clustered threateningly in the sky. He gestured towards Alex with his head to get his attention. “Looks like rain,” he said.
~~~~~~~~~~
//Alex fought a grin while looking up towards the sky. Hm it did. "We'll see." he said vaguely then starts walking towards the orbs. "Come on shorty." he announced motioning for him to follow.
Lark noticed Alex’s slight upward twitch of the lips at his comment. So he liked the rain, did he? Lark didn't really mind it all that much, he would just prefer NOT to be outside if it suddenly started pouring. “Let’s get this over with quickly,” Lark muttered, glancing upward and pray that if it did rain, it would be more of a light shower than a storm.
~~~~~~~~~~
The two soon arrived at a clearing which was still on campus grounds, but far enough away from the school that it posed no threat if something went awry. There was a smattering of trees that broke up the long grass of the open flatland, but they were not tall enough to attract any lightening and in the situation that they did catch aflame, they were not close enough to each other or the nearby, surrounding forest to start a full blown inferno. The location was the perfect place to cause a natural disaster without harm, which is what they planned to do.

“Alright, I guess I’ll kick the wind speed up a notch and get some warmer air currents going. Since it’s already storming, it should be pretty easy to simulate a powerful lightning strike, though I’ll leave it’s manipulation up to you.” Lark nodded for confirmation as he begun to maneuver the air around them, helping the warmer air to rise and the cooler to sink, creating a basic breeze, and the quickening the process to increase wind speed.

He gulped then set his focus on the task at hand. He hadn't yet tried controlling such large amounts of air at one time, so he wasn't sure it would work, but surely if he concentrated…
