Description
Here's *Archaeidae 's commission of her ponysona Saving Throw, who owns a Ponyville gaming shop, running a late night game of Dungeons and Dragons with her cohorts. (Myself included, it's the ponysonas of the members of our DnD group XD ) She's the brown unicorn on the right. This was another big one, again, like with Wonderment it almost wrecked my computer. I need an upgrade.
I must say that knotwork on the table and throne was incredibly fun. Hid a couple easter eggs in there as well, references too.
Sorry this took so long!

DM: "A red dragon appears before you! He wants you for LUNCH! Roll for initiative!"
Munchkin: "20! YES! My wizard casts 'Apocalypse From The Sky'!"
Everyone Else: "Wait, WHAT?!"
Munchkin: "What? It's a perfectly legal spell! My character got more than enough levels to cast it!"
DM: "You mean an over-powered Destruction spell with a TEN MILES PER LEVEL DESTRUCTION RADIUS?!"
Munchkin: "So... how bad?"
DM: "Well, going by your levels, you just killed the dragon..."
Munchkin "That's good."
DM: "...Yourself and your entire fellowship..."
Munchkin: "Won't be the first time I got a Total-Party-Kill..."
DM: "... And the capital city you're suppose to be saving, along with the Great King, his daughter the princess, the treacherous chancellor, the good general, and the whole population of 50,000 ..."
Munchkin: "Okay. Didn't mean for that to happen..."
DM: "... And the big bad Evil Overlord's Fortress of Unending Doom..."
Munchkin: "Well, at least we saved the land from evil forever!"
DM: "... But since you killed the Evil Overlord without breaking his dark influence first, the Heart of Oblivion, the source of his power, goes critical without his control, and blows up..."
Munchkin: "... Let me guess, the entire kingdom?"
DM: "The entire continent, you dimwit."
Munchkin: "... Oops."
[Everybody groans in exasperation]
DM: "Now I can see why you are called the 'Maverick' in the Tabletop RPG club..."

I spy an easter egg that noone else has commented on, yet: the Trogdor sketch in the lower left corner! Or is it Discord drawn Trogdor-style? Also, do some of those cans say Sgt. Pepper on them? And, if yes, is that an intentional Beatles reference?
Excellent work on this picture!
I think I'm going to add 'Discord-as-Trogdor' to the list of pictures I want to create, now.

Love the detail you put into this, and how all the ponies have their own expressions and personalities. The one with the LOL and he popcorn bowl on head is awesome. Also, the red dragon picture on the wall is great

I wanted a simple cutiemark that would represent knowledge of history, so I went with a golden capital H, like the History Channel logo. (It was the only thing I could really think of that would be simple and unique for history, as a the concept of "history" has few symbols that define it outright and that work on a cutiemark XD )

Dungeons and dragons rocks! Also it's the opposite of MLP in these regards:
1st edition: Good.
Second: Better
third: Amazing
3.5: EPIC!
4th: shit
MLP
first: Ok
Second: Lame
Third: Crap
3.5: EPIC FAILURE
4th: SO MUCH WIN!
I hope they fix D&D with 5th edition.

Icaron In reply to VLLady [2012-08-07 02:34:58 +0000 UTC]
Hmm, I didn't tally them like I normally do, so I'd estimate about fifteen to twenty hours of work thereabouts. Which is probably a lot more than I should have taken, as I went waaaay too slow making this. XD

Indeed, there's usually a direct correlation between amount of detail and amount of time it takes. XD
But worth it. ^^

What class did you like? I tend to play a Druid. (I also tend to play rather odd/eccentric characters, my current one is a super happy werekangaroo Druid who speaks with an Australian accent and goes only by the name "Dundee" )

Also this is well done. Maybe it's because I know nothing about ponies, but Magg's horn look a little short. But still AMAZINGLY done. Even if it is vilely tainted with evil. ;D

Thanks! ^^
(How's it feel to be a pony, by the way? )
Well, for the most part that's how long unicorn horns are in this show, the only ones that have longer horns tend to be the uber powerful ones, primarily just the Royal ones in fact. XD

SHIT, AM I THE PURPLE ONE WITH THE SHOE? And is that Jon with the bowl on his head? Who's the blond with the book?!
You're a vile man, Mister Benjamin. Vile.
Oh. Okay. I haven't seen any unicorns 'cept for the powerful ones then. : )

Icaron In reply to NightGoblinella [2012-08-07 02:26:21 +0000 UTC]
Oh, and yes, the LOL pony wearing the chip bowl is Johnny boy. And the other guy is Morgan. (Don't ask me, those are the colors he said he wanted. I had him with dark hair, and it looked a lot more like him, but Maggie said to stick with the details he gave me, Gold/Blonde and Green with a reading cutiemark )

Icaron In reply to NightGoblinella [2012-08-07 02:24:06 +0000 UTC]
YES, search your feelings! You know it be true!
(Don't blame me, Maggie is the one that wanted you in there XD )
Plus you kinda gave me permission. Remember at Bronwyn's house last winter? I was writing down OC details for everyone in the room, and you specifically told me you wanted a silver and purple earth-pony with a dancing cutie-mark.

MY FEELS BESPEAK OF HORROR. DUDE. NO.
(But I like Maggs too much to hate on her. ARGH. BENJAMIN THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, BRO ;D )
Okay, I remember that. I think, however, you got me and Tweet's mixed up. I never said anything about dancing... I'm pretty sure I said something like "murdering" or something XD
The second I saw the LOL and the bowl on his head I was like "WELL HELLO JONATHAN. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE NOW?", but I wouldn't have guessed that was Morgan. Hmhm. I guess I'll show him himself then. XD

Nice Purple Worm miniature... I wish those weren't so expensive -.-
Well, at least those are expensive in my country, you know, for the importation things and my stupid presidentess who puts insanely high taxes on importation...
π: 0 β©: 1
Icaron In reply to WeirdPonyGuy [2012-08-07 02:31:41 +0000 UTC]
Ahh, yes, they are expensive aren't they? If they were cheaper we'd buy an army of the things, dragons, beholders, orcs, hobbits, you name it. XD
But as it is we only have a moderate amount. (The father of the purple/silver pony has been collecting the lead ones since the 1970's and the DM has a big tackle box filled with some more, but we're rather lacking on the big ones)
