(me, halfway through the pic: goddammit this looks like the lion king)I missed doing personal art so muuuchh ;o; Now that I'm finally done with all the commissions, I can do a bit of that again!
Got this idea randomly when watching the weather outside, you know the moment when you can see the rainfall moving on and sunshine starts peeking out again? That's kinda what this was supposed to be... but it ended up looking like the lion king. AH WELL (Icelectric is Simba confirmed)
More painting practice I guess? I wanted to line this at first but really didn't feel like it because I left the sketch a mess haha-
Anyway, I'm still sick and I should sleep, so I'm just throwing this out here and I'll be on my way to bed, enjoy!

Greetings Adela, this image hath given myself the following epiphany: what if it was Icelectric who launched that distinct lightning-bolt which set Pride Rock ablaze, during the Scar-Simba confrontation?

Anyways, regarding the art-piece, while there doth exist a coincidental similarity to that animated masterpiece's iconic scene, that scene was set during a great, blue-tinted fall of rain, whereas thy art-piece does manage to depict peaking sun-rays through expertly-crafted clouds, with lightly-sprinkled rain whose surface-splash effects are quite marvelous and quite atmospheric--I certainly am a conversational-termed "sucker" of sorts for atmospheric rain and rain overall. Moreover, the stone cliff, which Icelectric somberly yet gallantly standeth upon, is longer and angled too horizontally-perpendicular to be confused with Pride Rock's shorter, slanted, and arched cliff. Finally, I do not believe also that Pride Rock possesseth those distant, white birds fluttering near the furthest-right background; truly, I favor such minute, attentative details--they further the visual-atmosphere much.
Upon the topic of the "Lion King" which I--quite ironically--barely finished viewing with my brother and mom, I reckon that thou hast already viewed it's photorealistic remake by now; what was thy opinion of that film-version which I too have already viewed (truly, my mom and I have never appreciated the original film as much, until our post-viewership of that remake)?

I prefer the original because while the new one has amazing visuals, it kinda lacks the soul of the original and I feel like some scenes either progress too fast or drag on for too long, and I'm sad that Be Prepared basically didn't happen :/ But it's not there to replace the original, it's a cool twist on a classic

Consequently, your such reasons, along with my issues regarding the remake's variety of clunkiness within the scenes and dialogue, hardly any fondness with certain characters' voice-acting and singing--although Scar's final blurting of "Be prepared" within a sudden, Javert-styled baritone certainly caused myself a chuckle-- and uninspired cinematography, are what prevented myself from enjoying the film enough. While the presented dynamics of the hyena-pack did peak my interests much, the numerous narrative similarities and visual lifelessness actually caused myself to become quite bored, by the time of the film's latter second-act.
While I consider the film not horrific, it certainly is, as I perceive, an immensely mediocre film; and to further my opinion, let us compare Mufasas' death-scene between the two versions (I do not believe that it was the filmmaker's intention to depict Simba as a Dragon-Bourne, yet his shouted "No!" seemingly bore enough force to hastily shove the cinematographer's zoom back). 🤷
If there may be one benefit of this remake, it did result with my search for the original stage-musical which I have heard so fondly of, within the past ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ6Hqj… ), and am still searching for an entire recording of the original film's 1993 story-board screening--a version which apparently differs somewhat with a singing Mufasa, "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" sung--to Sir Elton John's furious dismay--entirely by Time and Pumba, Timone's origin instead of Pumba's, and a slightly more menacing Scar as examples ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NurJY… ).

Yeah the voice acting + the animals was another thing that looked very off in some scenes. I watched the Czech dub so I'm used to the lips not being synced 100% precisely but this was a different level of uncanny valley haha

Very nice detail with him, even with the small size that he has in the drawing, that's always appreciated, and you even made his scales, horns and plates shine with the sunlight. I like how his body is dripping aswell, like if he had been stading sitting under the rain. The different colored clouds and their densities, realistic af!
Also, nah, it doesn't look like the lion king, mostly because of the different perspective used. XD

I actually didn't see Lion King in this, even though I just watched it XD So don't worry, there's not much resemblance - your composition has a more isolated and dramatic tone.
