Description Took this last summer while chasing a storm. Nikon D70 on tripod. wide angle lens.
just pointed the camera at one section of the sky and waited. lightning tends to hang for a second or so.
Just long enough if your quick enough, to get the shot.

That must have taken forever, I'd love to get shots like this but I'm not patient enough, plus I'm more likly to get hit by the lightning than photograph it!

well hello.
the shot took about an hour to get. the lightning was all over the place except the one area my camera was pointing.
But, patience pays they say.

My camera is a cheap make and the shutter speed is way too slow, hence I've never been able to capture it, although we had a lovely lightning storm here not so long ago.

actually a slow shutter speed is okay. about 1/3 of a sec for shutter speed will capture the lightning and help illuminate the area as well

Not on my camera I've even tried using the streaming setting on the cam and it doesn't work

does it have a manual setting? is it digital? if it has a manual setting, then that will allow you to slow your shutter down

Slow the shutter? Don't I need to speed it up for that? You can tell I'm a writer as opposed to a photographer
