Description
So, I decided to make a little tutorial to show you how do I work.It is a little condensed, maybe I need to go deeper in some explanations, but this should work.
Sorry if my english is not good at all.

Interesting technique. Is there a similar method for GIMP? I've used the Ink tool, and I've scanned pre-inked artwork.

Perhaps you can use inkscape instead.

Saludos

hehehe, well, I don't know how to explain it, it simply flows. Maybe the process looks overwhelming and complicated, and maybe there is another simple way to do the outline, but is the way I always do it and it works to me.

I usually use the stroke path, instead of fill-path, as that would take too long.
But when I use stroke-path, I then go back to the lineart and cut out the edges to make the lines look like pen strokes.

As much as I love Freehand, I would never take that much of time with vector drawing in it. Never the less I take my hat off to you my friend, you're truly a master with Freehand.

Thanks!
Freehand was the best of the best in vectorial programs.

So you make a bubble outline around the outlines and fill it in with black, right? I'm working with Illustrator, kinda having trouble with enclosed spaces. Other than this little issue, I see this method as much better than what I've been doing before. I used to use Photoshop's pen tool to do the outlines, being rasters, the lines were all blocky and adding softness to the brush just created holes in the coloring (it sucked when you forgot to put the contour in its own layer.)

Yes, you use the perfect word for describe it! I do a "bubble outline" for each pencil line. I know this could be complicated, but is the best way to work with vectors.

I kinda see how this works! I've been tinkering with line thicknesses, but with this method, you can show inconsistent thicknesses in a single line, when performed with care, you can get very sophisticated strokes!
Now like I said earlier, I'm having problems doing things with enclosed spaces, for example: eyes. Using this method, how do you draw eyes? I'm going to guess that you'd break the eye up into separate shapes (maybe upper lid and bottom lid.)
Lastly, what do you do if you have a very thin line? Just a pen stroke instead of a fill?
