_backstory:

Apollo worked on the moon for Homeworld; he mostly collected material and worked on it in order to build machinery on other planets (kindergartens). Before landing on Earth, Apollo didn't know what his job was really meant for; he was sent for the first time on a mission to gather information on Earth with another group of gems, but little he knew he'd find out about the kindergartens and what they would do to Earth in order to collect energy. He felt uncomfortable and horrifed by the process, so he rebelled to the other gems and Homeworld, abandoning his place and his group, completely lost.
He eventually grouped up with some other gems who were on Earth for his same cause, and started to defend the planet from its devasation.
