I use a infrared converted camera, I generally use the 720nm filter (Hoya R72 equivalent)
You can try your luck with a screw on filter, a tripod, and a very long exposure, although I have never had much luck with the Olympus cameras for infrared, even with the internal IR blocking filter removed.

You can use an infrared filter infront of the lens and use a tripod with a long exposure. Personally, I modify my cameras to take handheld infrared pictures.

Moding it yourself, haha I wouldn't trust myself to do that to my camera. But getting an infered filter sounds brilliant, it gives the pictures a very interesting feel. Thanks!

so i get that it's a different lens, but how do you mean infrared? is it a photo of the infrared rays or something? *scratches head* it's really cool.

Its not a different lens, its just a different filter.
To explain briefly, we see the world in the visible spectrum of light, however there are many other types of energy that bounces off objects. Digital cameras have sensors that are sensitive in ultraviolet, below visible, and infrared, above visible. Normally we have no need to see UV and IR, so cameras have a filter inside the camera that blocks everything but visible light.
What I do is remove that filter, and replace it with a filter that does the opposite, and only lets IR pass. And the result, is pictures of the near infrared spectrum of light
