A big fleet shot. Commissioned art for a collectible card game.What I think I like about these ships is that they blend hard sci-fi military functionality with a touch of anime influence.
Fortunately, the client just wants the art and not the ship designs, so now I have to figure out what to do with these cool ships. Regardless, I learned a bit about texturing and lighting ships with these models tht I can apply elsewhere. That's always a good thing.
The ships themselves were designed in part in DOGA-L3 and partly in Carrara. They were textured and rendered in Carrara as well. All the designs are mine, built from the ground up. The backdrop is a digital painting I did in GIMP 2.6, which is a free photo editing and digital art program like Photoshop (though I prefer it to photoshop myself).

It is supposed to be a collectible card game called Hull Breach. Not sure of the state of the project.

I probably could, given enough time. Those ships are really detailed though, and I've never been could at recreating specific ships. Especially if you get into something like Macross Frontier, then my head would explode.
Ironically, I recently started writing for the Robotech RPG line by Palladium books.
