I like that poem as well. Edgar Allen Poe rules.

I know it was an excerpt from Devil Doll, from Dies Irae.
And yes, the whole poem, The Conqueror Worm is what Dies Irae IS based on.
All Mr. Doctor did was go in and change the wording of things and a few words.
It IS the Conqueror Worm Poem.
There are a few other things added into Dies Irae from Emily Dickenson and Oscar Wilde as well, but it's mostly soley based on The Conqueror Worm.

"The poem seems to imply that human life is mad folly ending in hideous death, the universe is controlled by dark forces man cannot understand, and the only supernatural forces that might help are powerless spectators who can only affirm the tragedy of the scene."
LO! ’tis a gala night
Within the lonesome latter years!
An angel throng, bewinged, bedight
In veils, and drowned in tears,
Sit in a theatre, to see 5
A play of hopes and fears,
While the orchestra breathes fitfully
The music of the spheres.
Mimes, in the form of God on high,
Mutter and mumble low, 10
And hither and thither fly—
Mere puppets they, who come and go
At bidding of vast formless things
That shift the scenery to and fro,
Flapping from out their Condor wings 15
Invisible Woe!
That motley drama—oh, be sure
It shall not be forgot!
With its Phantom chased for evermore,
By a crowd that seize it not, 20
Through a circle that ever returneth in
To the self-same spot,
And much of Madness, and more of Sin,
And Horror the soul of the plot.
But see, amid the mimic rout 25
A crawling shape intrude!
A blood-red thing that writhes from out
The scenic solitude!
It writhes!—it writhes!—with mortal pangs
The mimes become its food, 30
And seraphs sob at vermin fangs
In human gore imbued.
Out—out are the lights—out all!
And, over each quivering form,
The curtain, a funeral pall, 35
Comes down with the rush of a storm,
While the angels, all pallid and wan,
Uprising, unveiling, affirm
That the play is the tragedy, ‘Man,’
And its hero the Conqueror Worm. 40

that's fascinating! I didn't know Mr Doctor pulled the enitre poem from that piece!
In the Bible, the "Worm" is another word for hell, and I always saw the line "It's only hero is the conqueror worm" as saying that man is inevitably damned (much like Samuel Clemens believed)
Thanks for the submit! it helps me better understand the intention of the song.

No problem. I love that CD, it's like part of my soul ^.^
There's also many pieces from Emily Dickinson ("and if it should be the iwll of my inquisitor, the liberty to die" and Oscar Wilde, and obviously some random old movie pieces in there too... But it's mostly all the Conqueror Worm.
All of Devil Doll's CDs have deeper meaning and are meant to be looked into and investigated to see where they come from. It's pretty neat. I love that band

Eek! If THAT don't make shivers go down your spine! Looks more evil than angry, but either way, seems to be plotting Someone's demise... hehe, great lighting effect though! You really pulled it off!

for some reason it doesnt scare me lol maybe it's because I created it? well anywho, yea, it looks more evil but the idea behind it was that I was angry when I was making it.
