Description
This is something I've been meaning to produce for some time now.Most of it is pretty self-explanatory (or so I hope) so I'll keep the description short.
I hope this helps someone and to reiterate what I said at the end: If you feel there's something missing or not covered in enough detail tell me in the comments and I'll add it in!
Some people get very anal over copyright- I don't. If it helps you to directly copy any part of this or any of my other pictures then by all means do it. I would discourage tracing simply because it cuts corners and you miss out of learning important things that you might pick up from drawing freehand.
Lastly, and it's not requirement, but I do like to be shown things where people have used my tutorials. If you show me what you've done, I can see if I can give you any more personal advice on what you've done well and what could be improved. I don't bite!.

Well, that's fair enough, but if you've got some cool ideas for things you'd like to create, I would certainly encourage you to have a little faith in yourself! Everyone starts out new at things and the only way to claw your way up is to give it a good go. It can be scary the idea of showing your work to other people when you're new, but dA is a very friendly environment because everyone knows what it was like when they were just starting out. It'll take a bit of time and effort, but you might be surprised what you can accomplish.

thanks. i will feel better now, and since i started to make some drawings about two days ago of a game character which is the medic from TF2 and a funny profile pic ( Vladimir Putin in a cowboy outfit ) from a friend i noticed. but thanks.

I play quite a bit of TF2 myself, mainly soldier, heavy and medic. I used to play pyro, but the nerf to the axetinguisher just ruined the fun of playing him.

I'm curious. do you have one with elites out of their armor? i have a friend who has trouble trying to get their anatomy right

I haven't specifically made a tutorial on that since there's a lot less reference material available in the canon for it. If you want though, your friend would be welcome to send me a link to their work/WIPS and I could see if I could give them some specific feedback?

the eyes where on the side of the head now there on front i hate that

Yeah, it's probably an anthropomorphism more than anything else, moving the eyes to the front makes them more humanoid, which means people can assign them human characteristics more. I think that's a bad thing- I like aliens for being alien, for being NOT human.

here is the elite I did that I said that I was gonna show you :3
It was a commission for I still think that there are some errors ( ^^' ) but overall I don't think that It came out half bad 
If there's anything that's immediately obvious (yeah the face is too thick, the neck ... i think ... and the slant is really weird ... ) let me know as I want to get better

Sometimes I think drawing them is so hard because there are so few good references. :/
I noticed while looking at this that if anyone's ever drawn dragons it would really help with Elites. Cause dragons' necks usually attach at the back of the head and they have the weird jointed legs (digigrade I think is what it's called?).
The only thing I would beg you for is a tut on their heads, especially the mandibles. They are a bugger to draw!

Your tutorial is very informative and well-structured. I always had trouble with shoulders because I had a habit of drawing them without fully connected to the upper body. I'm glad you uploaded this!

This is a great tutorial. It has helped me no end, I find elites stupidly hard to draw. It doesn't help with few good references of them that doesn't have a weird light source or explosions.

I made a heap of mistakes, but I am really excited to keep drawing now.
I'm slightly concerned that mine looks too much like a copy of the example in the tutorial, though.

Unique additions can be all sorts of things, be it whether you just decided to mix and match parts from Halo 1/2/3 to blood-spatters, scratches, battle damage, symbols/runes etc. You can make custom weapons and that sorta thing too, although it can be rather easy to go overboard with them.
The drawing you linked looks really good for a first attempt, heck that's really good for someone who's been drawing for some time!
I really don't mind if it looks like my work, I couldn't care less about copyright and all that, I'm just happy to help. I found that drawing from someone else's reference is really useful when you're just getting started, once you get confident with the various bits and pieces you can move out and you'll slowly find yourself using less and less reference.

One thing that I have worried about is what 'unique' additions I can add to the armour. Is this something that I will get used to over time?
I may just be thinking too far ahead. I should worry about learning how to actually draw properly first. XD

wtf it's strange, following your tutorial makes my elites lokking like sjit, but when i does your tutorial in the oposite way(armourr befaor muscles) they're not so bad XD
i say not so bad becaus i'm proud of the armour's details but my hand are realy crap, and my head too.
