Description Remember this gun?   I finally managed to finish it and organize a quick tutorial to how to make it.
You see the whole process in a few steps, but it actually took me an eternity (longer than 1 year!) to go from the 'Before' step to the 'We're ready for rock and roll!' step! But I have an excuse: didn't have the decorations and I managed to find them for a cheap price just recently. Plus I was busy creating other props and sometimes I put my projects aside for a while if I don't feel very inspired. Let's start!
1) You need a water/bubbles gun you don't use anymore (mine was broken so I decided to recycle it, but you can add special effects to your cosplay if the gun still works, especially a soap bubbles one)
2) If possible use some sandpaper to rub the gun everywhere, so the primer and then the new paint will grip easier. Paint it with primer and let dry.
3) I added silver/steel and gold acrylic paint but I wasn't satisfied by the look. The gun looked way too new!
4) If you are smarter than me skip step 3 and get an old looking steel paint and a bronze one since the beginning. I added a bronze paint on top of the gold parts and then added a black holographic nail polish on the silver one... then I quickly blended it with a brush so now the silver parts look old and yet shiny. I used what I had in stock at my place, I didn't have more money at that time. XD
5) Use jewels glue (they have the application part very small and precise and the glue dries clear and nothing moves anymore, or you can try with superglue good for metal and plastic) to stick the decorations on the flat surfaces of the weapon. I used black crystal strasses and gears but you can enjoy with different things. And you are ready to go!

The holster part is a bit more vague sorry: I'm not good at sewing, so I asked to a tailor to sew me the gun holder: I just cut three pieces of fake leather I got for free (they were scraps) and showed how to assemble them together. Then I used a steampunk stencil and just painted on it with acrylic paint. I practiced with some fake leather scraps before trying with the gun holder of course. I should have done that step before sewing everything because the surface wasn't flat anymore and the stencil didn't come out 100% perfect, but I ordered the stencil on Aliexpress and it arrived after the gun holder was assembled. Sometimes you make mistakes.
BUT if your stencil doesn't work and your gears look a bit messy just come back with a small brush and some color which matches the holster color and carefully correct the drawing and you are good!
I'm quite satisfied by the final look of my props. If you try to realize your own steampunk gun just let me know, I'm curious to see the result!

Thank you so much! It was a long journey before I was satisfied with the result, but now I finally have a decent weapon to splurge at steampunk events.

Ma grazie! Mi ci sono messa d'impegno, tutti i costumi ed accessori steampunk che vedo in giro sono dannatamente buoni quindi la competizione è alta.
