Act 1
a ball of blue, green, and white hung in the blackness of space, offset by tiny balls of light on the surface that appeared for brief moments  before fading into darkness. A great war was in progress. Armies rushing at each other with little knowledge of what was beginning to form. Blindly oblivious of the doom that was swiftly approaching. This small planet will soon bear mute witness to the horror about to consume it. This is earth.

Special Operatives Hnpr ‘Ruzallee stood at the controls of Destructive Purpose eying the many holographic panels. Others of his kind ,the Sangheili, manned the other controls. He was not a ship master nor one able to use the ships many features as well as others who had been trained specifically to utilize them. But The Supreme Commander was holding a special council in his flag ship, Unyielding Faith, so Hnpr took the ship masters place for now. He stared at unyielding Faith, It glowed on the main view screen, it was 5346 meters of destructive power, its slick, smooth surface, betrayed the fact that 534 plasma turrets lay all along its surface. It boasted the power of creating a glass crater 300 meters in diameter with one individual turret. Also 200 seraph fighters lay in its port and starboard sides ready to swarm on unsuspecting victims, tear them to shreds, and zip away before the enemy had a chance to realize what was going on. Crewed by tens of thousands, it was the fleets pride and joy. He felt sorrow for his enemies.

Ilsa ’Simulee stood in front of the view screen, warmth filled him as the 500 CCS-class Battle Cruisers, 1782 meters in length, began taking up positions in high orbit all over the planet. Soon the great purge will begin, but for now more pressing matters called to his attention. At least more than fifty ship masters in gold armor stood waiting to be addressed. Ilsa ‘Simulee walked to the top of the lift and began. “Brothers, we have come to this world to purge the natives and claim sacred artifacts”, his voice boomed over the loud speaker, “I have called you here to show you the “opposition” we face”. He heard many laugh. “From recon pictures we can see that the “Humans“, as they call themselves, are quite inferior technologically, evident by this clumsy aircraft you see here”, the main view screen suddenly shifted from their glorious fleet, to a flying junk heap with an odd bent, black cross. “this aerial craft is held aloft by a single propeller here”, the Supreme Commander pointed at the front of the aircraft, “this should be no trouble for our seraph fighters”. the Commander continued, “I would also like to point out these”, the main view screen changed again, from the flying junk heap, to a shamble of metal, “this is their equivalent to our wraith tanks”, the image played and the tank fired a metal projectile. He reviewed some more until he came to a native. “this is one of the natives,” he listened as a crewman growled, “these ugly creatures disgust me, and I think they would look better as a smoking crater!”. A Roar of delight rocked the chamber, even the Lekgolo rumbled in agreement.  “now return to your ships, the purge will begin when the planet completes its rotation!”.

Act 2
George stared up  at the night sky thoughtfully. It was pleasant in Chicago during fall, the sky was clear and brilliantly starry. Mike called to him from the car, arm around Cindy, his girl friend. George had known Michael “Mike” York since childhood, now they waited to join in the war effort, if there was going to  be one. New word was that America was going to stay neutral during World War ii. Still him and mike hoped to join as soon as America did. “George! Get over here!”. George strolled on over and got in. “where’s  Jen?”, Mike asked, “she’s sick”. “oh, cold again?”. Jen had caught the cold two times already, and George was getting worried. He had been going out with her for nearly two months, her parents liked him too. “ya” George replied dryly. After George dropped Mike and Cindy off he headed towards Jens. As he was pulling up to her driveway he thought he saw a brief light appear high in the sky, but thought nothing of it and went inside.

Victor Barkosh huddled near his T-34 Tank, Next to him were his comrades. They were sitting waiting for the Germans to attack again they were getting desperate as winter was closing in. if they were going to survive they had to drive the Germans back. And they were waiting for just that order.

Bagnall tried to maintain altitude as he flew over German air space. Two British bombers had been taken down by German fighters in a recent bombing. He had to be careful, lest he kill all his friends and himself. “Germans aren’t aware were here”, Bagnalls  copilot and friend Lawrence Kensington whispered into the radio, careful not to alert the Germans. There were three clicks, the A-OK sign, and the radio turned off. 4 A.M. and they were nearing their target.

Ilsa ’Simulee stood on the control rooms raised platform. The many Seraph fighters docked were ready to descend on the planet and crush their enemies. They waited only for his orders. After the initial assault they would bring their cruisers in and deploy phantom dropships en mass filled with his brothers, pairs of Lekgolos, multiple methane breathing unggoy, and huragok engineers. Then their machines of war would begin crushing human resistance, banshee fliers would harass enemies, wraith tanks would burn opposition, and then their great scarab walkers would cut a swath of destruction through the enemy ranks. Conquest never felt so good. “supreme Commander, requesting permission to engage the enemy.” Ilsa smiled to himself then answered, “permission granted”. shouts and roars replied in kind and Ilsa heard and felt as his seraph fighters left Unyielding Faith and joined the other thousands as they sped toward their enemies with anticipation. The purge of the humans had begun.

Louis stared in disbelief as hundreds of blips appeared on radar then before he could say a word they disappeared. “Hey Reg!”, Louis yelled, fear obvious in his voice. “what Lou?” he answered, impatient. Probably in the middle of his favorite radio program. The blips came up again, “get the bloody hell over here!”, “what? pixies at it again or is it men from Mars!?”, he laughed. “no! look for yourself!!”, he yelled shakily. As soon as Reggie saw the blips his smile instantly faded, but then they were gone.
Act 3
Ntmi ‘Nuposee led his seraph squad in formation as they sped towards their targets. Apparently a few humans were going to perform a bombing on an enemy faction called the “Germans”. he had seen their aircraft from photographs but wanted to turn them all into molten slag rather than scoff at them from afar. His radar showed enemy signatures closing in. “brothers begin bombing with matter-antimatter charges then proceed with plasma cannons!”, “yes your Excellency”, he knew his brothers were just as anxious as he was to crush them into the dust. His seraph banked while firing a flaming charge of blue, homing matter-antimatter, the rest of his squad followed suit.

Bagnall was doing mental preparations for the bombing flight when a brief flash of light and explosion rocked the Lancaster’s hull. His first thought was the Germans had spotted them. But as he listened to the tortured screams of friends on the other end of the radio, he wondered how the Germans could’ve have seen them, it was still dark out and cloud cover was very heavy. But all thought was wiped away as another bomber exploded for no reason. “what in gods bloody name is going on!?”, Lawrence screamed over the explosion. “the Germans didn’t say a word about our presence and now our planes are blowing up for no reason!?!”, “has the whole world gone to hell!?”. only half of the 150 bombers remained intact, the smoldering remains of the others plummeted thousands of feet to the ground. Not a single parachute was seen. Screams of panic were thundering on the radio, even over the sound of the planes engine. Bagnall was about to order every one to turn tail and run but before he could say anything Lawrence shouted “LOOK!!”.  Bagnalls head turned just in time to see a purple, vaguely teardrop shaped, craft before it gained altitude and disappeared. “bloody hell….”, Lawrence turned to the rest of the crew, “ think that was a German plane?”, “No way”, “never seen one like that before”, “maybe it’s a new model?”. Bagnall doubted it was German aircraft. Bagnall shouted, “ everyone were pulling out NOW!”. he was beginning to turn when the clouds cleared, the faint sunlight showed him a nightmare he couldn’t even dream, hundreds of the odd craft flew high above. But that was not what reduced his spirits to nothing, no, it was the gigantic ship that hung impossibly suspended in the twilight sky. For a brief second everything was quite, then all “bloody” hell broke loose.

Sam woke up to the sound of soft thumps and a distant wailing that screamed into his consciousness, he was having a wonderful dream about betty and him at the beach. Next to him was Ben who had passed out on the hood after drinking to much at the Hula Bar. They were having a good time on the beach with friends and then his memory got fuzzy, he couldn’t remember anything. His vision was beginning to clear when something zoomed overhead. It didn’t look like a plane at all, it had no wings and didn’t make a sound save for a steady low humming that quickly faded. He sat up and looked towards the harbor, what he saw shook him to the bone. Smoke rose in its shallow waters, planes went down like flies. He saw that weird shape thing, and a hundred others that looked just like it. “what’s goin on?” Sam turned and saw Ben staring at the things. “I don’t know, but we’ll find out if get back to Bellows field”. Ben got in the passenger seat as Sam fired up the engine. It looked like hell from here he hoped there was a Bellows field left to go to. Down in pearl harbor, things couldn’t get any worse.

Rick was reading the paper when the damn nightmares fell out of the sky and started raining fire on the fleet. They looked like the U.F.O.‘s he had seen in one of the stores by the harbor. The things acted like gravity was just a theory. They swooped, dived, barrel-rolled all over the place. Word was that the first place to get hit on this paradise was Bellows field. Almost all of the workable planes were hit as soon as the fire started falling, if that’s what it was. The blue fireballs seemed to home in on the  ships like they had eyes, and then tear through 15 in. of solid steel like tissue paper. The Oklahoma bore a massive hole about 6 meters in diameters on its starboard side. “what are you doin soldier! Man that cannon!” the “Cannon” was about 356mm, And could tear a hole in any enemy carrier, but Rick didn’t know if he could scratch one of those flying things In the air. “Bogey! Coming at 13 degrees north by 26 degrees east!”. weird, the thing was heading strait down the barrel of the cannon! “Steady…….Fire!” Rick listened to the roar as a shell left the tube and headed straight for home. There was a loud boom and he heard Amus shriek “Direct hit!!”, but the joy soon ended as they saw the thing come straight through the smoke. It had a black smudge all on its front. “That should’ve blown it to hell!”, “reload NOW!!”. Rick heard the metallic clank as the shell slid in then waited to be fired. “ready, and, NOW!” Rick felt the vibration roll up his body but forgot all discomfort when he saw the craft fly apart and slam into the water. He heard cheers, then he to began cheering as the things flew back up into the clouds. They won! They won! They were beginning to repair damages done when a huge ship, as big as the Arizona, sunk from above the clouds. everyone was silent. Then a small point on the impossibly huge ship glowed a bright white, and Rick saw the most beautiful light in his whole life before his existence was erased from the world, along with hundreds of other men that were unfortunate enough to be on the same ship.

Sam stared in awe and horror as the ship lowered from the clouds silently, so silently, and stared in disbelief as half of The Arizona disappeared under a pillar of intense violet light. When the light finished its flight only the other half of The Arizona remained the rest seemed to disappear. Sam knew that probably wasn’t the case as the edge of the ships now sinking middle, the metal looked white hot. “Holy mother of god”, Ben had seen the whole thing to, “What do we do now?”. Sam didn’t know what to do. “Bellows field is as good as gone”, that was a fact, “ we head for the north shore, there’s an airfield there they use it for practice runs”. Besides he knew that most of the guys and their girls  were there, including Betty. He said a silent prayer for his friends that had been on duty, and turned around.

“Your Excellency!”, Ilsa turned to see a holographic form of a shipmaster, “We have destroyed the islands main defense with the loss of but one seraph”. Ilsa clicked his mandibles in a shrug, “Losses are not unheard of, I expected we would lose some men, the sheer number of humans and vehicles of war they have shows this”. The shipmaster seemed uneasy, “What is wrong?”, “Your Excellency we have detected an object of immense energy beneath the center of the island, in a valley sir, it matches the signature of the many sacred artifacts strewn across this planet”. This was good news. “excavate the sight let no humans desecrate its holy light!”. “Yes your Excellency”. Ilsa watched as the figure faded. He turned to the ships main view screen, “Show me the island”, he ordered. There it was, a small island it didn’t look like much trouble, and true to the shipmasters word there were two long mountains that formed a valley in the center of the island. There first find! He felt exhilaration run through his body. Good. Very good.

Victor was staring at the endless landscape of white as him and his platoon of tanks rumbled its way across the field. It was so peaceful for a minute he actually forgot he was at war! According to the most recent word from Moscow, it was 7 A.M. military time and the Germans were falling back! Now that was something! But at the back of his mind victor wondered, what could make the Germans fall back without even firing a shot? What ever it was he knew that if it can make a German run it was very, very bad indeed.

Joachim Von Molotov was doomed, he was doomed when the lead Panzer tank erupted into blue flames and his entire squad scattered like so many leaves on a windy day. The silent terrors that swooped out of the snowy sky tore through five panzers before they left, not to mention at least four squads of good men in the lead. Now they received supposed orders to rush the hill where the supposed invaders made landfall. From what was told after the silent flyers left new ones flew in low over a large hill, what they were doing was a mystery. At least for now. There was a line of trees on the next rise ahead, beyond that is where the “ships” made landfall. Joachim and his squad crept ahead while the panzers took up positions.  As Joachim carefully looked around a tree, shivering from the intense cold, what he saw cooled him even further. The unusual ships looked like some predatory animal rather than a normal plane. It had no wings only parts that seemed to delicately lip away from the ship, on its underside glowed a white light. What it functioned as was unknown. It and several others lifted away and into the clouds. What was left on the ground was not what Joachim expected. Small creatures with packs on their backs and unusual face masks waddled along here and there setting up what looked like bars with petals at the end around the perimeter of the hill, while other structures seemed to rise slowly from the ground beyond them. However much larger creatures walked around directing the smaller ones. They were bigger than a man, and didn’t seem to be bothered by the cold at all. What Joachim also saw made him stop cold in awe and wonder not far behind the wall of smaller creatures were five dark blue machines that looked much heavier than the panzers they had, and more amazing was the fact that they seemed to hover a half meter off the ground . Joachim sat in stunned silence unaware that the large machines were zeroing in on platoons direction. Then chaos reigned. The “tanks” began firing flaming balls of blue light at the platoon and the other creatures turned to do the same. The small ones with the packs on their backs fired small guns that spat out orbs of green light, or a few fire weapons that shot out small violet crystals, while the bigger monsters fired weapons that seemed to big to be carried in one hand. It shot out blue orbs of light that flew out at an incredible rate. Already one fourth of the platoon was decimated and some of the huge fire balls had yet to complete their fall on them. Then he heard the order to rush their position. Joachim thought, “better to die trying then defeat”. He and the rest of his platoon ran screaming towards the invaders. One of the flaming orbs scored a direct hit on a panzer and it exploded into melted fragments. He and his men were almost up the hill. He could make out the invaders features better. The small ones had a purple skin and wore what looked like gas masks on their faces that covered every thing except their eyes which were black. They stood roughly about five feet tall. The bigger creatures had armor that covered most of their body. They had no lower jaw though, instead they had four mandibles that formed what looked like a split lip. They stood at least eight feet tall! He watched in horror as nearly half of his running comrades fell down into the snow. Many had much of their face missing, melted away by the orbs of light, some had gaping wounds in their chests and guts. He finally reached the top. When he got there he understood the purpose of the bars he had seen earlier, they were shields! They sprouted out a single blue petal that deflected all but the rounds from the panzers. He shot one small invader in the head and watched it jolt from shock. Its last reflex caused it to shoot one last orb, it passed dangerously close, and he felt extreme heat as it whizzed by. As he sprinted ahead to the next target he smelled something familiar coming from the small invaders pack. Then he recognized it, methane. The little monsters breathed methane! He saw a big invader close to him with its back turned, he decided he’d hit it with the butt of his rifle. He tried but just as he was about to connect rifle with back, resistance stopped him about a few scant centimeters away from the monsters flesh. It flared a faint blue light before fading. The creatures also had personal shields! Joachim stared in disbelief as the monster uttered an angry howl and turned to give him a kind respite. Joachim felt pain arch trough his neck, saw dark spots dance across his vision, before blacking out. When he came to he saw as he was put underneath one of the odd ships with the light underneath it, felt a tingling sensation play across his skin, then was pulled up into the waiting light.

Hnpr’ waited as patiently as he could while the phantom made its steady descent towards the ground. He had been given orders to neutralize a human leading a small band of ground forces. Being used again for war felt good. He would rather be on the ground than in be helpless space. As he was stepping towards the holographic view screen he took time to look at the interior of the phantom. It had many harnesses built for more of his kind as well for the small unggoy. Save for the pilot Hnpr was the only one there. He was ordered to kill a German human leading a camp. Killing him would crush the will of others to fight. “attention we are nearing the camp, be ready for a quick drop”. good. He stepped onto the closed opening, and felt a tingling sensation play across his skin as the anti-gravity systems lifted him as the metal cover slid away and the system dropped him lightly to the distant ground below. It was only a short fall of twenty meters before he landed just outside the compound. He pulled out his energy sword and initiated his active camouflage. Running toward the compound he blended into his surroundings and relished the thought of battle.

Gartov was making his patrol around the ghetto of Warsaw when he saw a faint light appear in the sky but quickly sped away. Whatever it was if it was leaving all the better when his shift ended. As he was heading back towards the entrance he heard a rustling noise abruptly behind him. Gartov quickly spun around bringing his rifle to bear, if another Jew was thinking about sneaking away they picked the wrong night, but there was nothing there. Confused he turned around only to stare into strange air. It seemed to ripple and contorted the gate in front of it, he shouted “who‘s there!?”. It moved abruptly in his direction. Gartov raised his rifle franticly as the rippled air sped toward him. He watched helplessly as a beam of light appeared out of thin air and made a hissing sound while doing so. Gartov desperately fired into the mass hit something that flared a faint blue, yet his bullets bounced of  it and sped into the night. He saw silently as the light was brought above his chest and came down tearing it with searing heat, he screamed wordlessly as blood gushed from the wound. With last effort he brought his hands around the ripple and felt metal. Something gripped his hands and removed them. Gartov died without making a sound.

George stared back at Chicago, it smoked heavily from the morning attack. He made it out of there okay with Jennifer and her family, he hadn’t heard from Mike. “George what do we do now?” “I don’t know Chicago’s gone and there’s nowhere else to go”. His parents thankfully were out of town, but he still worried. If the reports flying in were true UFOs were raining down all over the world! “We’ve got to keep moving though, the farther we get away from this the better”, “sounds good to me” Jennifer’s father, Dane, replied. They piled into the Chevy and drove away from the carnage. They  had barley gone two miles when an unusual ship flew overhead. George thought it had missed them when it slowed in mid air, an impossible feat for an ordinary plane, and turned around. “Drive faster George!”.  he tried but the ship was to fast. As it caught up with them, Red fire shot out of three turrets on its underside. The red bolts barley missed them, instead it hit the road in front of them. Apparently it was extremely hot because the tires were blown as soon as they touched the scorched earth. “George why are you slowing down?” “I have to unless I’ll lose control”. As the car rolled to a stop the ship lowered itself in front of them about twelve feet above the ground. Three spacers fell from the ship. “Get out” one demanded., it wore silver armor. They did as instructed, and then were forced under the ship. George heard Jen whimper and held her tight. He wondered if they were going to kill them, but as the thought entered his mind he felt a tingling sensation play over his skin and began to rise up into the ship. Jennifer squealed. “silence” ,the silver one demanded, “or I’ll melt that mouth right of”. when they were inside the ship George looked around. It was spacious and twelve harnesses stood on each side. They were to high and to big for them to fit so they just huddled in the back. The silver one snarled  when they did. He felt the ship jerk and then nothing. Eventually Jennifers father mustered enough courage to say “where are we going?”,  the silver one turned and gurgled something in his own language then said confusingly, “up”.

Mike ran through the streets of Chicago with Cindy. They had nearly died when the first waves hit their house, and again when a spacer patrol almost spotted them. They ran behind a building to rest. But a patrol kept them going. Without a doubt Chicago was under the spacers thumb. they came to a street corner. Mike looked around it. All clear. He turned to Cindy and whispered, “come on”. just as they were out in the open he heard a low roar and turned just in time to see one of the big spacers in blue armor level its arm at them. Mike Screamed, “RUN!” Mike held Cindy’s hand as hard as he could and ran as fast as he could. A loud boom sounded as a blob of green screamed by and detonated on a nearby building, a huge explosion almost rocked Mike off his feet as half melted debris rained down in many directions. “KEEP RUNNING!”, Mike screamed over the detonation. It was odd though, this particular spacer was alone, but when the spacers came down he always saw them working in pairs. Where was the other? Mike risked a look back and saw the spacer watch them leave. How it did so with slits instead of where its eyes should have been was also a mystery. He snapped out of thought when Cindy screamed. Where the other spacer was wasn’t a mystery any more, because now it stood in their path. It roared defiantly and lifted its left arm, which had a large shield fused to it, to bring it down on Mikes head. Mike let go of Cindy and jumped to his right. The spacer brought down its arm on nothing. Mike was rolling onto his feet when the spacer swung its arm towards him. It hit him square in the chest, and sent him flying through the air. He landed on a wrecked car. He hurt all over. Cindy screamed uncontrollably, and if she didn’t move soon would suffer a fate worse than Mike. One of the spacers lumbered towards him, the other inched its way slowly, shield covering its orange flesh while it held its gun at the ready. Mike reached for his back pocket only to freeze in horror as he realized his three dollar pistol was not there. It must have fallen out when he was sent flying. He stared as the spacer stopped in front of him and began lifting its arm or “gun”. as he saw green light grow inside the barrel a gunshot ringed out and echoed off the buildings. The spacers turned and so did Mike, there in the middle of the intersection stood Cindy with his pistols barrel smoking. The spacers moved in her direction. Mike desperately climbed to his feet and shrieked, “RUN CINDY RUN!” She tried to but Mike saw the spacers gun glowing and knew she wouldn’t escape if he did nothing. As much as it hurt Mike hurled himself at the nearest spacer hoping to throw of its trajectory. It didn’t. As Mike fell to the ground dazed he watched as a lob of green energy flew towards Cindy. Time slowed down, her scream rang in his ear indefinitely, and watched as he saw her outline in the explosion for a few scant seconds before it faded to nothing. A pain more unbearable than he had ever experienced before swelled up into his chest, his heart jumped up into his throat as tears began to build up in his eyes. Nothing was there save for the two big spacers. They both turned to face him slowly, but instead of killing him as he had hoped a deep drone sounded and the spacers turned and left. They sentenced him to a fate worse than death by leaving him alive to wallow in his grief. Mike curled up into a ball on the ruined pavement and began to cry.
