Blizzard has a spine and they know how to listen to constructive criticism.Β The replacement is no less sexy and is no less featuring tracer's butt.Β The criticism was that the pose didn't fit Tracer.Β She has a very fun loving spirit and the original pose didn't show that.Β Now had she been patting her butt in a kiss my ass kinda way then it would have fit.Β Instead they went with a classic pinup pose which shows far more action, is more light hearted, and since it is the kind of thing you would find on nose art of a bomber and she is a pilot also has something to do with her.Β Sexy was never the criticism, nor was the butt, it was that the pose didn't fit the character and Blizzard agreed so they put aside their pride and showed their integrity for making good characters.

Uh, yeah. Sexy was the issue with the initial poster. She flat out said it, and how it would harm her daughter. If they'd been wanting to change the pose for other reasons that's fine and dandy, they just timed the change to make themselves look spineless. Frankly I dislike the company for all manner of issues, so my opinion shouldn't matter to you. You like them? Great, go like them, I don't. And if someone who already doesn't like a thing points out when that thing screwed the proverbial pooch? Well, you're free to ignore that too. To be quite fair and frank, all this has done is make Tracer's butt well... the butt of the net, to be honest. Streisand Effect and all that.

First off I don't care about the company at all.Β I think I own one game of theirs and can tell you straight out I will not be getting Overwatch.Β What I do care about is 3d modeling and character design.Β Also here is a quote from the original Fipps criticism from the Beta forum.
βWe arenβt looking at a Widowmaker pose here, this isnβt a character who is in part defined by flaunting her sexuality. This pose says to the player base, oh weβve got all these cool diverse characters, but at any moment we are willing to reduce them to sex symbols to help boost our investment game.β
So no the original criticism was not about it being sexy, it was about the fact that the sexy pose didn't fit the character.Β If you want to hate on Blizzard for something that they have done wrong then by all means do that.Β However don't do it for an issue where they saw the error of their way and corrected for it rather than just ignoring the issue.Β The majority of the fan base would never have noticed or cared, their sales would not have been hurt by that one pose, and in a purely business sense they should not have changed it.Β The only reason it is still being talked about is because the designers agreed that the pose didn't fit the character and they spent time, effort, and money to correct their issue and for that they are being called spineless?Β Their games may be crap, their upgrades and game changes may be stupid, and their business practices may be questionable but they do try harder than many companies to make characters rather than just a pretty face and a nice tush.
