I sketched it in pencil, darkened the lines with pigment liner, and scanned it into my computer so I could colour it with my mediocre art program.

Thank you! I'm sure you could draw people if you practice.

And yes, I'm American, but I think that 'colour' makes more phonetic sense than 'color'. I also use the metric system interchangeably with the American system, but that's only because of my love of science. And good scientists use the metric system.

I use both variations of spelling. Haha, you're right about the metric system; it's what science uses. I got my hands on a 1963 road map my city, and the units used in it are imperial (Australia switched to the metric system in 1970).

We did use it, like Canada, because both countries were British colonies. And imperial originates from Britain. There are some differences between British imperial and American imperial, however.
It would be interesting to see the US switching to metric.
