anyway, first off THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE for the birthday wishes!!!!!!!!!! i'm going to answer all of them soon!!!! And for the presents!!! ;; I'm going to make a journal later today that's more legit than this. but srsly wtf, I'M LEGAL. That's crazy. I don't feel like an adult...... it'll probably take a few months to finally realize "oh I'm 18, not 17 anymore" lawllawlha ok, back to the pic... actually not much to say. except it took flipping forever. UGH. nearly lost my patience with this one. I had to force myself to finish last night or else I knew I'd never finish the next day. you know that feeling? anyway since this is one of my first REAL pics (as in it wasn't a doodle or something done several months ago) CRITS ARE WELCOME <3 I'm pretty happy with most of it, but I know some parts are icky...like DAT HAND. //hateshands. the pose seems a little impossible too, but it seemed right when I drew the skeleton...it's possible it got messed up later

ahhh thanks thanks thanks!!! It doesn't seem overly-saturated here because... I didn't use an OVERLAY! literally the first piece in years ... haha, kinda sad, but that would explain it :3
and I guess it's sort of part of anime style.. but you're right about the lighting being wrong in the eyes . oops

Well, first off I really liked the drawing, character, background, everything. It is really eye-catching. I love your character's pose because it's not something you see everyday. It's not common and that is something people like see (something they've not seen).
The coloring is amazing. It is very realistic but I like that it still has a thin line art (btw I love the hand) and I liked how the eyes shine and "sparkle". And the wings and the tail look fantastic and they really suit the character.
The background of the city is really beautiful.

I use photoshop!
Specifically PS CS3 for this piece. More recently I've been using SAI and PS CS5.
And it's not necessarily the program you use to make great art, it's how you use what you've got
For example, the composition, the colors used, the art style, the mood from colors etc, those can all be achieved in any program.
The only thing PS has to offer outside that is some extra effects, which honestly is a very small bit compared to the above <:

I think the problem you're seeing with the pose is her center gravity is off. Perspective angles like these do that to ya. I don't think I could even pull this off as good as you did. Overall it still looks really good.
