Description
Hi there!Yet another scenery painting.
It shows a rather unusual place for a city.
Starting from an initial sketch: [link]
I finally painted a vast amount of details. arrgh ...
Parts of the city, a few rocks, trees and ice surfaces are photomanipulated textures.
Some tech specs:
- 4700 x 2000 px width and height.
- 836 MB painting data.
- My right wrist nearly fell off while painting the details.
- Adobe Photoshop and Painter 8 via Wacom Intuos2 (as usual
After spending 50 hours (spread over several days) I consider this painting as finished.
Critiques and comments are very welcome.
Hope you like it!
Daniel

basically, a Scandinavia that survived to modern day. Now fast forward to just before space colonization is a viable science.

Great detail and use of light and shade. Fascinating combination of vast wilderness and a modern urban sprawl.

I would kill myself if I had to live there... Which just goes to show this drawing has a lot of brilliant feel added to it! Very detailed indeed!

immensely detailed, and very lifelike. The small touches, such as the birds, and the deepness of the lighting make it come to life. The perspective gives a feeling of place in the piece, and it stretchign away into the distance allows the viewer to imagine the scene.

It only took fifty fours?! I would expect a piece as grand and detailed as this to take weeks! How old are you, how long have you been a visual artist? This has to have been done by an older individual who was lifetime artist!
I love the shading by the way, how the sun first illuminates everything as orange and then gradually fades to fit the actual color of the land. And I like how the scene seems to go on forever. There's a term for that but it completely slipped my mind. >.< I think the most powerful aspect is the foreground and the mountains to the right. It must've been a bitch to get the shading and details between the rocks and snow right.
Great job!
