Agh! I saw one of these dead on the street at my house (in MN, US) after a good rainstorm. It must have gotten washed out from the pond nearby. It was so huge!

Haven't seen one of these in a while! It's a Giant Water Bug, also known as a "Toe Pincher", and if you've ever been swimming or wading in a pond or creek, you've probably found out the hard way WHY they're called that! They use those modified front legs like ice tongs to seize prey with, and "prey" includes human digits.
