Description

Wasps-

Also known as Viper Jackets – the Wasps represent the most power of the interior sub-races. With the exception of the Behz- Wasps are the most common minor race in the Core Galaxy. The Wasps as a race are very intelligent and large pack hunters that live in crude colonies ran by a queen. They have large snake heads with crushing jaws and venom loaded fangs. Their stingers hold one of the worse neurotoxins outside of the Spider People. If not bad enough these basketball player sized wasps have claws that can shred most armor plating. Their saliva is lightly corrosive and they can mix it with their venom to spit it up to 400 feet. This causes everything from blindness and paralysis to convulsions and eventually death. Though highly intelligent the wasps have never formed technology of their own. Sworn archenemy of the Behz the wasps have made their very successful living plundering the Beh race. Having no need to evolve any further- the Wasps have remained a primitive race.

When Wasps or their much larger even more aggressive relatives the Hornets, pay a visit to the Behz- it’s always carnage! The Behz always lose. They possess nothing that they can use to defend themselves. And despite their size at around 7 feet tall- Wasps breed just as fast as the much smaller Behz. The Behz simply have no chance. Whenever the Wasps want they simply find then raid a colony. The mission is not normally to slay the Queen and destroy the place. But rather to raid the honey and keep just enough of their victims alive so they can raid the place again later. This vicious cycle has played itself out countless times over millions of years. But since the arrival of man and the many races they spawned, there has been a major paradigm shift!

Humans farm Behz for their honey, and will violently defend them. But Wasps are very large and very well armored for being so skinny! Humans can’t do all that much even with their guns. Fighting off a large swarm can be a losing proposition even for the mighty Humans. The humans have weapons and armor- but not numbers enough to face wasps in their full force– nor the physical strength to fight them toe to toe. A Wasp is still stronger than most battle armors given their similar Quartanium materials. Similarly each Wasp can take about as much damage as a light armored vehicle. In short most races run out of bullets before the Wasps run out of warriors. And relatively few rural planetary forces have access to capitol weapons. And the ones that do usually need them to fight off bigger enemies.

The Catato-

Ever since they were accidentally created by the Solack- the Catato have been called the Fuzzy Death. They are an animal whose destructive force is topped only by the Solack themselves. Since their alliance with the Behz- the Catato have been blood enemies of the Wasps. Catatoes are MUCH weaker than and painfully vulnerable to the Wasps. But more often than not the Catato can hold them back and sometimes even win without use of higher technology. The only weapon the Catato have against the wasp is their Acid spray. And the Catato can use their acid artillery with lethal effect. Most Catato colonies cannot match the birth rates of the Wasps – so they do need to be very careful. Thusly the Catato do not fight Wasps unless absolutely necessary. Even with their best technology – killing wasps is not as easy as you might think. Worse when the Behz call on the Catato to help defend them. In short the Catato have to use their brains rather than bronze.

Because of the extremely high risk and casualties, Wasps are one of the only races that can give pause to the tiny but mighty Catato. It’s just too easy for the Wasps to flank the Catato – enter their Potato Bag home and start cutting large numbers of Catatoes in half where their Acid spray is not an option. Similarly Wasps are somewhat hesitant to fight Catatoes out in the open where catching one good acid droplet can fry them alive in their exo-armor.

Then there’s the Solack…

Mightiest of the warrior races are the lords of hate. But even they find fighting Wasps a sticky predicament. They can and do slaughter them. Their technology can absolutely murder Wasps and decimate their hives from space. Plus- The Solack might be small at only 5 foot 5 inches- but they can rip a wasp in half with their bare hands- without effort. The Solack have more lifting and crushing force than 5 Wasps. But fighting Wasps hand to hand can be risky for the Solack too! They can be killed if they get ran through by the Wasp’s stingers. And their venom is crippling. Worse the Wasps tend to show up in backwater communities where the Solack like to farm. These small farming outposts don’t normally have the high technology of their cities- nor their weapons. Stumbling across a Wasp Hive can be fatal for a small Solack community that’s out in the boonies! No one will get their in time to help them… But it’s not great for the Wasps either! For the same reason the Wasps are not too crazy about attacking Catatoes!

The Solack are nothing if not an extremely vengeful and highly aggressive race. If provoked into an emotional response- the Solack will come in force. They’ll show up in a killing frenzy- and that will be the end of whatever Wasps are on that particular planet. And it will be a particularly gruesome and brutal genocide. The Solack will commit every cruel and unusual atrocity they can to make their point to others. Don’t fuck with the Solack! Because there really are worse things than death…

On a side note-

With all this killing and slaughtering going on… Field medics and Catato Nurses have been at their wits end with all the catastrophic often mortal wounds caused by Wasps. There are always limbs everywhere- torn up bodies and massive puncture wounds to deal with, along with all the poisoning casualties. Recent prolonged combat has resulted in fast deploy treatments and improved anti-toxins. And if that fails… There’s always the Medevac Stimulant… Because of the staggering damage- the Catatoes have developed adhesive clotting ointment called “Bridge Fluid.” This compresses and seals wounds while providing a scaffold for new grown and a large supply of regenerative cells. This vastly improves healing times and limb regeneration rates as well as being useful to stabilize the mortally wounded. Similarly- The Solack have developed the bio-lathe to immediately heal and reconstruct the wounded. Both very fine technologies. It is also worth mentioning that the Furries have also developed an odd but strangely effective way to halt Wasp advances. They do this by spreading Fine O’s (A common breakfast cereal that some foxes do not approve of) around an area where Wasps are likely to pass. There is something about that horrible cardboard cereal that seems to bother Wasps.

Overall there are several types of Wasps.

The common Yellow- Your basic Wasps.

The Green Wasps- Not so bad- even reasonable at times.

Red Wasps- Hard to kill and doubly aggressive!

Black Wasps- DON’T come in contact with these if it can be helped! –You’ll find out why when it happens…

Hornets- BIG wasps! Stay well away from them!

Metallic Wasps – Rare… Very deadly but shells are worth a lot of money.

Fig Wasps- Friendly and tiny. Don’t hurt these guys. They are very helpful.

Blue Tiger Wasps- No one has survived an engagement with these... Leave them ALONE and they will leave you alone.

Parasitic Wasps- There are horrible rumors about these… None have ever been medically confirmed but the Harvesters know the rumors to be fact. They say they lay their eggs in you and the larva feed off of your body until your head falls off after they eat your brain. Many have tried to find these Wasps to confirm their existence –but so far they are still only rumor. Be advised – there have been penalty of deaths while searching, so take their existence into consideration.

In all Wasps are bad news- avoid contact when possible.
