lolWhen I first saw Rango, I was soooo amazed by it, but when I saw what it was rated I was like
Wat the hell!?! Rated PG!?!
There's freakin mild violance, foul language, smokin and some other stuff that makes this movie awesome [PUT IT AS PG-13!!!!!]
So! As you can see I'm reading the rating papers from the "director" with Rattlesnake Jake, and yea he's also agreeing wit me too
So enjoy and hope you like it!

You Know I thought the exact same thing!! And I feel like Jack should be alot more upset just because he is so bad-ass and ended up being put in a PG movie!! He's at least PG-13 material if not a little higher.

I had the same reaction! I was surprised that they rated it low enough for children to see it because, let's be honest, most kids are scared of normal snakes already and then there's JAKE, born from Hellfire and the Devil himself.
Those kids probably had nightmares for a month thereafter. XD
And yea the language (mild but still there) and smoking and (implied) alcohol consumption (cactus juice) and the violence. XDD
REGARDLESS OF HOW IT WASN'T GOOD FOR KIDS. It was still a great movie.

i think so too... in germany the movie is for kids in age of six years...

The MPAA is pretty political, even if it's an opaque process. The whole system would break down if the ratings were felt to be unfair or inaccurate, so this only happens every now and again. Think of "The Dark Knight." Definitely should have been rated 'R', but with a PG-13 rating, more money was to be made.

Oh, and "Rio" was edited and resubmitted to the MPAA after getting a "PG" rating the first go around. In a rare move, the edited version was rated "G."

When I got it from Netflix, the info of this movie said something like, "A friendly family pet wanders away from his owners into the desert to better discover who he is O>O" I can imagine parents taking their kids to see this, thinking its gonna be some kinda silly kid movie, than watching its surreal nature they're like O_O I think critiques are really seeing Rango the wrong way....

yeah totally... There was something about lesbians and stuff in it at some point too which i found hilarious because gay stuff for some reason is bad in kids movies/cartoons which i think society has fucked kids over with that saying that being gay is bad... but they kept sying hell and damn and ass once or twice in Rango and i found it mad funny it was amazing <3

I...actually think it's a pretty solid PG. I mean, it's not like 10 year old kids don't know what swearing or violence is, and I remember at 10 being really pissed off when people assumed I couldn't handle or didn't want a little violence/action in my movies. And besides a few swear words, there's not much sexual content and the violence comes down to not that much worse than what you see on a lot of kid shows. And smoking? Are you kidding me? Having smokers in a movie is like having fat people in a movie -- being overweight is bad and unhealthy, but kids aren't going to gorge themselves because one or two of the characters happened to be fat.

True, many adults really have no clue how much young kids know. Whether it be rap songs, clubs, or anything else of that nature, most kids know about it. So Rango is actually pretty mild I suppose.
