I decided to make some video tutorials in Manga Studio EX 4.0 from time to time.
For the first one I chose to explain a bit of what you can do in a vector layer in Manga Studio (special erasing tools, change line width, move lines).
Since I expect to make more video tutorials (I don't know when, sorry), you can give me ideas of what you want me to explain (leave your requests in my YouTube video, please!). If I find it an interesting feature, or if many people request the same, I will try to make the video.

uh it might sound a bit stupid, but is there any difference using the layer in monochrome, gray and color mode if you're planning to print the comic page?
In mono the lines look pixelated and weird, but I've heard from somewhere that it's easier to prints 'read' those lines. I don't know if it's really true since I just saw it once.

If you're going to print a comic, you must make your lines monochrome. It might look pixelated if you zoom in (especially if you make it at any resolution lower than 600dpi, which is not recommended), it prints just fine, granted it is a good printer. If you get smooth lines (antialiasing), there's a chance it won't look good when printing, especially for tones. All Japanese mangas are made in bitmap (monochrome).

Of course (^^) They're made for free for you to enjoy. Also, if you have an iPad (or most probably for your Mac too), you can download most of them in an iBook I made (for free too). It's better than the videos because each note sheet is a page, so you go through them at your own rythm.

I have had a Manga Studio Debut program for years and never really figured out how to use it right. I think you may have just helped solve some of those issues.

Oh Inma muchas gracias por el tuto, eres toda una eminencia en el manga studio ex. Unas preguntas, de que tamaño es tu pagina, que resolucion tiene y en ella a que zoom entintas? Veo que usas G Pen size 1.31 con correction 2.8 usas ese tamaño durante todo tu entintado de este dibujo o lo varias? Este dibujo lo trabajaste al mismo tamaño y resolucion con el que sueles hacer las paginas de tus mangas?
he estado dibujando algunas cosas en manga studio ex, pero me tardo muchisimo mas que en PS y batallo para los detalles, creo que tiene que ver con el tamaño y zoom que le doy. ademas el tamaño de la pluma y eso de la correccion me causa algo de ruido, espero tu respuesta me aclare la mente. Gracias!

No puedo promocionar la piratería, lo siento (>_<; MangaStudio Pro no es tan caro como el EX (no sé si eran 50 dólares o así), aunque también tiene muchas menos opciones.

This is what i needed! thank you very much for sharing. so in a vector layer, you are able to increase the line width whereas in a normal layer you cant? o: ( i never used vector because thats a whole new level for me >..<)

Exactly. If you want to change line width in a normal raster layer, you have to draw it yourself, either by pressing the pen harder or by adding many lines till you get the width you want (I don't know if I'm making sense, sorry!).

I have one problem. I use MSEx 4 and when i use vector layer and start drawing these purple lines go over the line. so how do i get that off.

ooooh! que útil!!! Nunca he usado el MangaStudio, me da algo de miedito y eso que lo tengo >_< pero a ver si me animo con tu tutorial! Porque lo de las líneas sería GLORIA!! Que tengo el pulso malísimo y siempre tengo que retocarla mucho con Photoshop >_<

¡Buen vídeo! La verdad es que desconocía por completo la existencia de esas opciones (aunque también soy algo novato con el Manga Studio). Es lo mismo que las vector layers del SAI, las cuales echaba de menos en Manga Studio por sus herramientas. ¡Muchas gracias! Quiero ver más tutoriales tuyos, son muy útiles.

How do you get it so smooth? My lineart/vectors come out very pixelated.

It is pixelated if you zoom in 100% because mangas are bitmap, but it should look fine when you print it out or resize it on the computer.
If it's way too pixelated, there might be a problem with your page/layer resolution. Make sure it's at least 600dpi.

I use G pen for inking. I use Maru pen to add shades and such, and always have it at some random super big size because it's easier to draw thin or thick lines according to pressure.
