Don't think it any standard spelling as much as the word just stayed the same over language relations. It has been used in Sweden since the mid 17th century here.

Bleh, I'm just rambling linguistics and knowledge that doesn't have any usefull purpose...

but it does! because say we were on a tour together i dotn speak sweden, and i hear BLAH BLAH BLAH...i dont know what that means...but i hear GAS GAS GAS, im throwin' down everytthing to put on that mask

Good thing it's spelled and pronounced the same way in swedish as in english.
