Description
Second script already, and a bit more complex this time.A common trick for creating a base to a design is by using the gradient tool set to difference and making repeated runs over a layer with it. The outcomes can be varied and rather colourful. I've always wondered how possible it was to automate this trick. This script is the result.
To install simply save the file as a .SCM file to the Gimp's scripts folder, which by default is:
C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\scripts
The command should appear as "Gradient Difference", under the Filters > Render menu.
There are 2 values defined by the user for this script.
Repeat - The number of times Gimp will apply the gradient tool to the layer. Generally speaking, more times = more chaotic.
Style - How the x and y co-ordinates of the gradient tool for each application is determined. X Axis puts both x axis markers outside each side of the canvas. Y Axis puts both y axis makrkers outside each side of the canvas. Alternating simply alternates between the two in a set pattern. Random switches between the two randomly.
Minor Update: Slight change that allows the user to use the "Repeat Filter" and "Reshow Filter" options with this filter.
Update 18/12: User input method for repeat changed to adjustment style.
