This is an excellent collage.
"Rawr!" Giantess Victoria was teasing the cameraman by pretending to make a monster sound as she walked around the city. This looks such a fun scene but look at the smashed and toppled buildings in the background and the careless way she smashed her foot into the tarmac, no, she is deadly serious, she is on a rampage, a deadly rampage, but, hey, why not do it with a smile....... I feel like this is an important collage in the grand scheme of things for this community. I'm referring to the feet sunken into the ground. I've NEVER seen a collager do this. Rather I always just see cracks in the ground or rubble built up around the footprint, but never the foot actually sunken into the ground from it's own shear weight like it would in reality. This makes it more believable, the giantess has a real sense of weight with this technique. Please share how you did this because this is going in every collage I'm doing from now on.Β

Yeah it is something that bother me too. Β What I did was take a picture of some concrete rubble and place it over her foot. The I carefully masked the rubble to reveal the center of the foot, while keeping the rubble on the outside of the foot. I just eyeballed it until it looked right. Obviously the orientation will be different for every picture. I used a low hardness brush for this, especially around the edges, as it will fade this the rubble into the street more realistically.
To get the color right I used the various blending options in the layer to match it up.Most of the time when I paste stuff in a simple color overlay of the color I want to match, with the blending mode set to a soft light or color usually work, but with this I needed more.Β
For this image I used both an inner glow with blending option set to vivid light, and a color overlay set to hard light with both colors set to the color of the ground. The layer blending option was set to normal. Β Other images might vary depending on what the lighting and color is like in the source image.Β
The specific image I used for the concrete rubble is thisΒ www.raisingladders.com/wp-contβ¦ . You might need to find other ones depending on the orientation of the foot, but I found that most of the images I use for effects like this are pretty easy to reuse.Β
