I like the "cross hatched" surface texture on this piece, it strikes me as little bitty cuts forcing their tints of red and black into the surface of the piece's "skin." I'm not sure I am totally resolved with the hair, but all in all I enjoyed viewing this piece.

Thanks for the comment, The hair was ok when you could see the deep smooth black base, but it was comprimised for the dark of the image which I felt fit the mood of the piece.
What to keep in what to toss out, gain a little lose a little.
