Description I've been wanting to draw this for a while, didn't think I was going to do it all tonight though o_0 So yeah, its quite messy xD However I can always go back an improve it if people find it unsatisfactory.
This is probably the best MMO I've ever played, I never though anything could top my love of Runescape or Flyff. But then I find this game and it has such a kind community, fun activities... AND A PVP I ENJOY. I usually hate pvp in games, which sucks because that's usually a huge part of the end-game. But I'm obsessed with WvW, running around the maps, hell even jumping puzzles are fun once you know how to do them.

Except the timed holiday jumping puzzles. Those can go straight to hell.

A good MMO is so hard to find xD Is that a healer in the last panel?

DCUO has races like those puzzles, one type for each of the movement powers...

The super speed ones are clearly designed for people who are ON speed and can see through time.

It's a scholar type, though all classes can heal/revive, so there isn't really a healer.

There are still many good MMO's, it's just that many have been using the same formula for ages. Now we're just waiting for the genre to evolve and create new experiences. None of this constant grinding of mobs, were you level up at 100% yet get like 0.01% exp per kill... I'm looking at you flyff...

Though thankfully many of the new MMOs are now trying new things, almost all of them are free to play, they're in competition with each other over the same audience. This is great, competition breeds innovation. I'm also looking forward to Destiny and The Elder scrolls Online since it seems they've changed up the formula a bit too. Hopefully x_X don't mess this up guys...

The Elder Scrolls Online might not be as good as everybody wants it to be, just because we've all hoped and prayed about it for so long xD

I hate grinding, that turned me off heaps of the MMO's that you guys were in to in early high school. I never understood why anybody thought that insane repetition could replace actual content.

Checked out Warframe yet? Barely an MMO, more a matchmaking system for an FPS, but very, very good.

I saw grinding as a love/hate kind of thing, while that insane repetition is ridiculously time-consuming and pointless, achieving the end-goals were the most satisfying parts of the game. It was an insane challenge, and that's why people love beating it. But at the same time, that shouldn't be the only main reason to challenge people (making them sit at a comp/laptop spamming the hotkeys).

Haven't checked out Warframe, aside from one gameplay vid. Sounds more like a regular multiplayer FPS? If the download isn't too much I'll try it out.

Some grinding is always and should always be necessary, but yeah, Flyff and the like make it the core component of their game. Makes for a really repetitive, low immersion game.

It basically is an FPS, I'm not sure where they get off calling it an MMO... but it does have RPG elements. It's kinda neat how it doesn't fit into a category very well. Check it out and hit me up on steam some time, we'll play together.

True, a lot of the JRPG MMOs are like that. Oddly enough I found Flyff to be highly immersive back then, actually almost all the games I played were, sometimes too much to the extent I couldn't even play games like the original Bioshock or Killing Floor at the time.

That wore off significantly though, not sure if it's because I'm getting older and I can't convince myself to role play in these worlds, or if it's because I've played too many of the same genre to the point that it's now losing its effect.
Either way, there are always those few games that'll always have an immersive impact; like Bioshock Infinite, Deus Ex. Then again those are single player focused and are kind of irrelevant to MMOs.

For a game to remain immersive for me it has to be well written and well paced. The moment a character asks me to "kill five slimes" it's like a wall goes up and they're not real anymore. To suspend my disbelief they need to have motive behind their actions and requests.

Tricky in an MMO genre, but as I say, Warframe does it fairly well. EVE Online does it too, but gaht dayum if it ain't a dense game.

Haha but they do have a motive, it's to kill exactly those five slimes xD NO OTHER SLIMES, only just those five were unacceptable. Maybe they were evil slimes and the rest were just the okay slimes.

But yeah they really need to stop with that shopping list of quests, it has been done to death. I noticed with Guild wars 2 they disguise this by giving no numbers and multiple methods to handle the quest, but you begin to notice a pattern. Even though each quest have their motives and story elements, you're still kind of doing the same thing. I think needing to enjoy the gameplay mechanic is essential, that's really where the core of the game is, as well as what you're doing most of the time. ('cause getting headshots in killing floor is the most satisfying feeling evaaar )

At least with most single player story-driven games, once you've done the campaign you can then move on to another game. With a whole new universe, story and gameplay. But an MMO is supposed to keep going... =/ tis not easy to do.

Yeah, the only way to make an MMO as infinite as it needs to be is to have player generated content (like in EVE) or really good procedurally generated content (like... almost in Warframe).

You should try slicing a Grineer in half in Warframe.

It's like a thousand bubble wrap pops at once x3
