First of.
This is all opinion based!
So don't take this personal if you do like Incineroar. It's nice that you do if so and I don't mean to offend anyone who like it.
This is just my personal opinion about it's design.
I really liked Litten when it was revealed as Pokemon Sun and Moon fire starter. I decided already then that Litten would be my first choice
of starter when the game came out. Unless its final evolution would turn out like something similar to Emboar or even Blaziken… Yeah, not a fan of either of those.
I'm really tired of that concept.
And yes, I know Incineroar is a Fire/Dark type and meant to be a heel wrestler (and yes I know what a heel wrestler is).
But come on! This was the best they could do with a fire/dark design? Wrestling is STILL a fighting concept. Whatever Nintendo's intentions was, designing him as wrestler still makes Incineroars look more like a fire/fighting-type.
To me, this makes it look like they designed him as a fire/fighting type, then just put him as dark type to dodge the bullet.
While I didn’t expect Litten’s final evolution to stay on four legs, even if I had liked that. I still hoped for it to look more like an actually dark-type.
Like Zoruark or Waevile, but a tiger then.
So I will most likely go with Rowlet as my starter now. I may still get myself a Litten some time, but then I’ll give it an everstone once it becomes a Torracat.

Well, I actually quite happy with the Fire/Dark Typing. Cause, some of us don't want more Fire/Fighting Starters, GameFreak should put that typing for non-starter Pokemon in the future. Don't be salty that it is not Fire/Fighting, it is Fire/Dark, it's canon, and GameFreak isn't going to do anything to change it.

Lol, I never said I wanted it to be another fire-fighting-type. I'm sick of them too and is glad that it's a part dark type this time.
It's not the typing itself I'm disappointed in, it's the design. I think it still look too much like a fighting-type, especially with the wrestler concept.

I like Decidueye ok and it's my fave along the gen 7 starters. I like Primarina too these days even if it took some more time to get used to.

Saaaame! I really wanted a Litten when it was revealed, but in the end, I got myself a Rowlet in Pokemon moon. I got really far with him and my Pokemon were about level 90.
Unfortunatly, then the game crashed and I got myself Ultra moon a few months later. I decided I should give Litten a try, and I've grown quite attached to him now, even though I'm not a fan of Incineroars design^^

Yeah, I did the same with Ultra Sun. But I gave it an eviolite after evolving into Torracat and press b every time it tries t evolve future. xD
Incineroars is probably still a good pokemon, but as you say, I'm disappointed in the choices they made with it's design. Even if it's a fire/dark type, the concept
still looks more like a fighting type.

Also yes he looks like a fighting type indeed. I even gave him a fighting move: Brick Break
And tbh Dark Lariat also looks like a fighting move xD
But even though I don't like the design, I always grow a little attached to my Pokemon, so even when he evolved to Incineroar, I still like him and use him^w^

I share that opinion, do you want to know what I wanted (probably not, but I'll write it anyway xD) I wanted to see a full black panther of fire, or a sabertooth cat of fire, I didn't want Tony from Frosted flakes as my companion. Heck, even a manticore, which was a random way for the evolution to go, would have been awesome as hell! xD

I agree 100% with this. I adored Litten and Torracat....I hated the final evolution. there are times where I feel like gamefreak should leave pokemon designing up to the fans.... I feel like the fans now adays seem to design better pokemon more often than the company itself

oh I agree completely. If they would just take some of the inspiration from them... I feel like the games would be even better. I used to have some beautiful working roms on my computer but for whatever reason I cant find them. Might have them on my external drive. There were some great ones made out there!

When I first saw Incineroar and his whole concept, my thought was "the Pokémon version of Tiger Mask", though he's not fighting for orphans (unless his trainer is one, which would be a massive coincidence XD).

The thing is the concept of Heel and Face are part of why Dark types are weak to fighting types.

I know right? It's so irritating! They always make this fighter fire type. I guess the final evolution of Fennekin is kinda okay (forgot the name) but still they're always large and just weird. Which is why I stick to water types XD

Yeah, to me it's a bit frustrating since I often like the fire starters first form, sometimes the second too, but then it blows at the final evolution.
I think Fennekin's evolutions are decent and it made it seem like Nintendo had taken a step in the right direction and really tried for something new that time.
But with Incieroar it's like they couldn't resist slipping back to the concept they where familiar with. xD

Yeah, I changed my mind when seeing Liten's final form and went for Rowlet instead.
Hehe, indeed xD. A friend of mine was determent to have a female Popplio as a starter,
but he had to reset the game for hours before getting one.

I'm too disappointed for Litten evolution... Just only Incearoar... -.-' First time When I saw Litten I tough ''Ooh~~ Exciting! It would be evole great sabre-toothed tiger pokemon! It will be first one!'' Then... I crying and badly when I saw what mess they doing fire starter evolution... again..

Yeah, I'm getting sick and tired of the fire starters becoming too humanoid and being on two legs.
Blaziken and Infernape have an excuse. Emboar was stupid. Delphox should have been better (Sorry I don't see a Fox turning into a Witch). While Incineroar may have a unique personality, I heel faced WRESTLER is not what I thought an Emo kitty would evolve into.
I wonder what will happen when we eventually get to the Horse? Sheep? And Snake? (Seeing that the Fire Starters are following the Chinese Zodiac).

Yeah, I don't like that the fire starters have started to look so humanoid either. Two legged designs worked better for the earlier gens of fire starters.
But now it just seem to have become more of an obsession for Nintendo to make them like that.
I didn't expect Incineroar to remain on four legs, but I was hopping for something more feral than a wrestler.
Wrestling also makes me think of a fighting type, so that didn't help it either xD

First of all - I've only played Pokemon Yellow and Crystal on my old gameboy color. But I occasionally check some game news, especially when I hear about a new Pokemon game (I still hope to see some cool looking Dragon / Grass monster but so far I've only seen a hideously mutated palm tree. But that doesn't surprise me at all, since a blind blob of slime can apparently be a dragon as well...).
Now... I'm a 10000 % cat person and when I first saw the newest starters, I was like 'Yaay a kitty starter, hope it'll be a dark type'. Then I saw the final evolution and was like 'what the actual ffff....'. I've never liked human-like pokemon and that's probaby the reason why I've never liked fighting pokemon (only exception would be that... I don't remember its name, was it Kommo-o ? It looks like a dinosaur with armor-like scales). And though Incineroar is a dark type, it really looks like a fighting one. If I ever get to play Sun / Moon, my Litten will stay Litten forever :-D But I guess Litten is the best choice, considered that other options are HootHoot's ugly sister and Faggot seal :-D (By this I'm not insulting people, I'm insulting that... thing)
And about fire starters always being biped, screw that. Grass starters used to be reptilian and look at the last two :-D But this generation isn't a good generation for felines, considered what monstrosity the Alolan persian turned out to be. I love the idea of Dark type Meowth, but in my opinion they should've changed Gen1 meowth's type instead.
Anyway, I don't want my comment to be all negative so if you've read my stupid ranting to this point, I must say your Torracat looks absolutely beautiful!!!! =-)

I do like Rowlet though, having a simple and cute design, and it's final evolution was kinda cool too.
While I wasn't too found of Popplio and Brionne, I thought Primaria was pretty.

I would still prefer a reptilian grass starter, when I was a kid, I always picked a Chikorita during my Crystal playthrough.
My most favourite starters would be Charmander (because F@*K YEAH, dragon! XD ), Totodile (just before my Crystal cartridge broke and it became impossible to load a save file, I had realised it can learn Ice punch and Blizzard.... and because F@*K YEAH, croc! XD ), Treeco (I've never played Gen3, but Treeco looks a thousand times better than Crazy chicken and that water... meme... thing :-D And because I've seen the mega evolution and it's a Grass/Dragon, combo of my two most favourite types ) and of course Chikorita and even Bulbasaur (although they're not favorite, I've always liked the Grass type).
The other starters are just... meh :-D But at least they're not some atrocities like the Incineroar :-D Sometimes I wish Pokemon games were for PC so there could be mods. Some quadrupedal shadowflame panther/smilodon would be so.... epic....

Say what you will about Incineroar, but I love the guy.
Maybe it's just because he's not a four-legged tiger(I'm one of those weird people who seems to hate quadrupedal feline/canine pokemon), or maybe because he's one of the coolest looking dark types out there, I just love his design.

It's nothing wrong with liking Incineroar, there are many who prefer this kinds of pokemon.
But for someone like me, who do like quadrupedal canine and feline pokemon, this was a big disappointment.
Especially after being teased with pokemon like Litten and Torracat at first
