P. Mustapää – Koiruoho, ruusunkukka

This is a part of poem by Finnish poet P. Mustapää, roughly translated Wormwood, Rose Blossom - or Absinthium and Rosa as in my title. In the poem the rose represents the sweetness and beauty of love, and the wormwood for it's part the bitterness of heartache. The poem claims that there is no one without other, no joy without grief, no love without bitterness. They are bound together just like the bittersweet wreath made of wormwood and rose.
About the work itself... Well, I couldn't find the exact stocks I wanted so I went all dr. Frankenstein and combined the characters with different images. My apologies to you dear stock artists for snatching just hands or heads or legs – I got quite obsessed about the pose I had in my mind... Big thanks to all the resource providers are in order, you're doing amazing work! I simply loved every stock I used for this piece. Painting the lady's hair was pretty fun – I spent some time browsing through bridal magazines for references. If anyone of you has tips how to make the hairdo look more airy and volumous, please let me know. I'd still like to improve it.
So, here's my first artwork for the year 2010 and for the whole new decade – yay for that. I really hope you like this piece.
