Description
A target I shot with a new pistol. All groups fired from 10 yards.
Left: Off a rest, without my glasses. 7 shots. Used a "center hold"
2nd: Standing, w/o glasses, 5 shots Used a 12 o'clock hold (top of black).
3rd: Standing, w/o glasses, 5 shots Used a 12 o'clock hold.
4th: Standing, WITH my glasses, 5 shots, 1 completely off the backer, probably at low-left. Used a 12 o'clock hold.
I can see the sights much better without my glasses, but the targets are a bit blurry. No idea why the group from a rest is so loose!
Pistol: Sig-Sauer P365x 9mm Ammo: 115gn Berry's plated bullet, 5.5gn Unique powder, each round hand-weighed to within 0.1gn.
Review:
Pro:
This is one of only two 9mm pistols I've ever actually liked firing, and the only small-frame one I liked.
The P365x is very comfortable to hold and points very well.
Very nice trigger to use and has a reasonable and consistent pull weight.
Easy to line up sights, although I'm not sure I care for the rear 2 dots being a dim red.
I usually find 9mms to have a harsh recoil; this one tames that nicely. By far the nicest small-frame 9mm I've ever fired.
Objections:
Shoots low. At 10 yards I was aiming 2" above center-of-target.
Extremely difficult to feed rounds into the (12-shot) magazines. (Maybe this will improve with use?)
Top edge of front sight is not parallel to the top edge of the rear sight.
Lips of magazine feel thin and flimsy.
Needs a manual safety, but I'm glad to see it does not have that weird trigger-in-a-trigger 'safety'.
