I used to be a tech - I specialized in internevtional neuroradiology but had to stop - the on call hours were brutal!

Diagnostic isn't bad, but IR can be. The longest shift that I pulled was 40 hours straight, fell asleep on the way home after another 24 hour shift & totaled my car. I still had to pull call that night because I only had a concussion. It was time to leave. for many reasons.

That really sounds unbearable, it was the right decision to leave I think.
