Description
Well, it seems like forever since I have posted a drawing. I haven't stopped drawing, but this is the first one I have completed in months.Related content

Impressive, I really enjoy the darkness in this one. I find it difficult to understand how you plan your drawings, all lines go above or underneath other lines which is easy enough to do with an eraser digitally, but doing it traditionally with a pen not having ctrl+z available is an entirely different level of difficulty.

Thank you.
Well, I don't really go as far as actually planning what I am going to drawing. When I first started I would normally just start in the middle and fill the page. Now I guess I plan i little in terms of greater design, but the smaller filler designs are still pretty much what I feel like drawing in the moment. In terms of overlapping shapes and lines, its kind of hard to explain using words. I try and draw the top layers first and give myself a lot of space to draw the lower layers. In some of my more complicated ones I have on the occasion sketched parts out lightly in pencil then go over with ink, but I didn't have to do that with this particular drawing.
I'm not sure if that explains it, but I hope it did at least a little. Thanks again again for the fav and all the comments and support. Its always appreciated!

Well thorough planning or not it does come together very nicely. Also something that helps a lot is how you use your rough patterns to enforce shadows and highlights. That also gives a further impression of depth and that the layers/shapes are not entirely flat.
