My instructor told us that meters will explode if you set it up wrong or put the leads in the wrong places. The worst thing to do is to set it up to read amps and bypass a load, thus creating a short circuit.

Jupp, he was right...but it's more common that you just blow the fuse in the meter. It depends on the used fuse and of course the current you are measureing.... so keep an eye on that buddy
@ IvanChea: Nice work, but the gradient on the helmet distracts just a bit when you look closely. A bit more away (even on the screen) and it vanishes. It may be more a problem when you use jpeg compression or sth. like that I think.
...I think working with Agilent/Escort is a quite interesting opportunity. Especially in the handheld meter market they seem to attack a lot at the moment.
