Part 1 of 3 of some Paint Tool Sai tutorials. ;u; Idk why, but I wanted to try this again after my last tutorial was such failure. (I deleted it, by the way.)
This one covers sketch to masking. Masking. Uh, I'm not sure if thats the right term, but you're just gonna have to humor me on this one. xD

ive been trying to figure out what drawing tool would be best for drawing manga characters and so far they always come out super stretchy and scratchy. what drawing tool would you suggest with also settings?

I'll never get why the lines get thin and then bigger, is that done by you? How do you do it? Or is it something the tool does by itself?

this may seem ridiculous, but when I watch speedpaints and I see them do linearts, some of there lines turn really thin at accurate points. how do you do that? is it a certain setting or do you just have to do it by pen pressure? I find it hard, is there an easier way?? i just want to master drawing anime. thanks!!

The quickest way is indeed just having good control of your pen pressure. In some cases, this can be made easier by having a higher quality tablet with more levels of pen pressure. But for the most part, it's just gaining good control. Until then, you can use linework layers and adjust the size of certain points in the line with the pressure tool.

It's a good practice to get into to accurately be able to see mistakes in your art. Traditional artists do this as well when they can.

What if you suck at draing on a tablet, but you wanna draw it traditionally, scan it than color it o- o? i try to do it but the out line looks like crap when i scan it, and more grayish but black

You need to edit it. It's actually best to edit in photoshop, though you /can/ edit in paint tool sai. Theres other tutorials on this, I'm afraid I cant help you because I dont even have a scanner at the moment. ;v;

Yeah because when i scan wit hthe scanner theres all ways these little flurries next to the line where i outline, and it makes it look low quality

You have to edit it, just color the white spots out after you've edited the brightness/contrast. Really, theres other tutorials to help you on this. ;v; No you don't need to do one perfect line, eraser is there for a reason! xD I suggest watching speedpaints to help with that kind of thing~

And then when it comes to magic wand, it doesn't want to select. ORZ;;
What am i doing wrong?? It wont select, even if i do it on the lineart layer. :C

Magic wand you can understand just by playing around with it.
The stabilizer well, makes your lines more smooth/stable.

ugh, i must be doing something wrong but i cant get the texture that you use to make the body and and the parts of the face.
