Description
I guess it's only safe to put this into the 'Fanart' category, as it was loosely inspired by Frank Herbert's novel Chapterhouse Dune. I was reading that book (along with the rest in the series) during Christmas, and was contemplating the process of Murbella, an Honored Matre, gradually being turned into a Bene Gesserit by means of careful psychological training and higher education. This is not a direct illustration of that process, but rather a work of art inspired by it, a picture which depicts leaving chaos behind, and striving to obtain order in one's mind. I hope I've managed to convey the meaning well.
Enjoy!

I like the use of dots and lines to create two plans

I'm particularly struck by the harmony of the subject with the pleasing background patterns!

When I'm done with my thesis I would love to do something similar to this one. I love pen and ink, but I still need to learn a lot about using them.
Thank you so much!

Pen and ink is very challenging!! I've done a little (a VERY little) and I;m always impressed by those who can make it look good!

I'm always breathtaken by pictures like this. The technique of crosshatching (and all that other stuff I don't know what to call, dots and swirls and thingies)
I don't have anything to crit in this I think. You've used the lineweight very well to get it dynamic and there's a beautiful flow in this picture.
:applause:

Ooops, forgot to mention the medium: it was actually done with FaberCastell's ECCO Pigment fine liners (size 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, and 0.7) or regular Xerox paper.
I work the other way round: I always goof things up, when they're ment for somebody. To get around this dilemma, I made this one with the intention of just making something for the heck of it, and I also had a hidden intention of giving it to my Dad if it turns our okay.

Another thing is, that if I am only making a sketch - with pen for example - just to see how a line or form looks like in that way, that turns out much better than the drawing done slowly, carefully with pencil...

Same here: I made one just yesterday evening, and I'm really angry with myself for amking it so small. It's completely useless this way, but the final one will definitely not look this good. I bet professional artists don't have such problems... *grumble, grumble*
