Hercules 2nd Labor. To slay the multi headed Leraean hydra which lived in a dark swamp. Upon his first attempt, each time he cut off a head, two more would grow back. See that this tactic would not work he retreated into the woods to devise a new plan. Hera (Queen of the gods) raised the hydra specifically to defeat Hercules giving it one immortal head which caused the other heads to regrow even if the immortal head was severed. All heads needed to be cut off permanently so as to kill the beast. Hercules new plan was to enlisted the help of his nephew Lolaus for his second attempt. While Hercules cut off the heads with his magic sword given to him by Athena, Lolaus would cauterized the severed necks with a torch preventing the heads from growing back, thus killing the beast. The plan worked! They then placed the one immortal head still alive in a tomb of rocks guarded by the Gods.
