I've been struggling with a pretty horrible art block the last couple of days; sketching for paintings I wanna do and then having no inspiration to work on them, or not finding any satisfaction with the end piece. I have a BEASTARS Melon pic I wanna finish so bad, but I gotta ease myself back into it, I think.

SO, to do that, D&D races!! I'm pulling inspiration from all over, but the desire to kinda... ignore strictly vanilla depictions was definitely inspired by the recent "canonization"(?) of Firbolgs becoming cow-people, on account of Taliesin Jaffe's firbolg character in Critical Role, Cadeuces. I LOVE that aesthetic; a lot of the classic appearances of some races don't appeal to me, so I was never considering them as possible races for me to play as a PC. Taliesin pulling out this sweet cow-looking Firbolg was kind of a, "oh wait" moment for me. Like, of course- it's d&d! I can imagine stuff however I want (...with DM approval.)

So batch 01 here is primarily reptilian, aquatic and birb-based races. I'm planning on doing one for beasts, and then men/mer and maybe misc. This (with some variation) is how I think I'd personally choose to use and depict characters of these races.
